  1. The left like using dirty tactics, like they did on the Catholic boys.

The kid looked shocked and uneasy, because he was.

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/01/leftist-activism-101-get-in-someones-face-and-then-play-victim-for-the-cameras/

“Leftist Activism 101: Get in someone’s face and then play victim for the cameras

This tactic was used against me and pro-Israel students at Cornell, and appears to have been used by an activist against a high school student in D.C.”

“The recent interaction in DC between high school students (one in particular) and an older activist who is Native American reminded me of a warning I once received from a colleague as to how I needed to prepare myself if I ever was in a hostile crowd or confronted.

A classic leftist/occupy activist tactic, I was warned, was to confront a target and immediately start screaming that the target was being aggressive even though that was not true.

Unsuspecting people in the vicinity would not start recording the incident until there was this commotion. The videographers accompanying the provocateur also would edit the video to start when the provocateur started screaming. The target, not knowing what was about to happen, would not be prepared for it, and might even take the bait, such as in pushing the person away physically.

Regardless of what the target did or didn’t do, you would have video of the innocent target being portrayed as the aggressor, and the provocateur portrayed as the victim.

It happened to me at Cornell in April 2014 after the student assembly rejected a BDS motion.

After an Ithaca activist and campus members of Students for Justice in Palestine disrupted the assembly meeting, I went into the vestibule of the building with my cell phone camera in hand. The main aggressor then pulled this stunt on me, falsely screaming that I put my camera in her face (the video shows otherwise). She also shouted “back away from me” even though I had not moved an inch. Another SJP activist, who is still active in campus anti-Israel politics, approached me and told me to stop filming even though I had every right to film in a public space.

If I didn’t have my video, it would be my word against theirs as to who was being aggressive, and their video alone would be the documentary evidence.”

“Is Nathan Phillips, the American Indian who tried to intimidate Covington Catholic students by banging a drum in their faces, an anti-Catholic bigot? That’s how it looks. It turns out that the day after the March For Life, Phillips and a gang of followers tried to disrupt a service at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington:”

  5. Now about those bigoted black nationalists…..

They were just the initial confrontation mentioned in the first post. They were the set-up.

    https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/black-nationalist-bigotry/

“One aspect of the Covington controversy has received very little coverage, let alone condemnation: the outright racism, homophobia, and anti-Semitism of the (very small) black-nationalist group confronting the teenagers. If you watch the nearly two-hour YouTube video, filmed by a man who seems to be a member of the Black Israelites, you will see the black men, all adult, hurling insult after insult at the students, for well over an hour. It seems accidental that the students and the black nationalists are at the same spot on the mall — the former waiting for their buses back to Kentucky and the latter staging a small demonstration.

The students are called “hyenas,” “dogs,” “white crackers,” and “@#$%$#.” They are ridiculed for being lice-ridden and told to “go back to Europe where you come from.” One man says he can tell by looking in the students’ eyes that they will be “school shooters.” They are the “product of sodomy.” We hear that black Jesus is coming back to kick the “white crackers’ $#@.” This black Christ is not like the image of Jesus the boys supposedly hold — that Jesus is a “@#$%$# child molester.” “Your president is a homosexual!” one man yells. He urges the teenagers to look up a YouTube video of Rudy Giuliani in drag, kissing Donald Trump. (I imagine he is referring to the skit for a charity event in 2000 that featured Giuliani in, yes, a fetching blond wig, dress, and heels.) By “your president,” the black nationalist obviously means Trump, but one student hoists up a campaign poster of Obama, and only about 10 percent of the students are wearing MAGA hats. One boy says that most of the kids in the group aren’t old enough to vote yet.

The students for the most part keep their distance and respond only mildly to these insults, if at all. A few briefly try out a little dialogue. There is no violence or assault of any kind. This all happens before the now-famous Nathan Phillips approaches the student group, beating his drum.”

  6. Factually Incorrect Cannot Be Morally Correct

    https://townhall.com/columnists/benshapiro/2019/01/23/factually-incorrect-cannot-be-morally-correct-n2539899

“A few weeks ago, the Fresh Face of the Democratic Party, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., gave one of the great defenses in the history of politics. Accused of fibbing and twisting facts to meet her radical agenda, Ocasio-Cortez explained, “I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually and semantically correct than about being morally right.” Her statement was widely derided. But it is indeed the mantra of today’s politics. The narrative must be preserved at all costs — even the cost of the truth.

Take, for example, Ocasio-Cortez’s ridiculous statements this week on the state of modern America. She explained that her plan to radically restructure the American economy is necessitated by the fact that “the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.” She added: “And your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it? And like, this is the war — this is our World War II.” Now, put aside her Nostradamus-like assertion regarding the incoming apocalypse. The important part followed: “How are we saying, ‘Take it easy,’ when the America that we’re living in today is so dystopian with people sleeping in their cars so they can work a second job without health care and we’re told to settle down.”

Now, when President Trump describes America as a dystopia rife with crime and suffering, the media point out that America is hardly a hellhole — we’re the most prosperous country in the history of the world. But when the charming AOC uses her false depiction of America to press for higher marginal tax rates, we’re supposed to buy her story.”

“Puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones: Canada’s family doctors get guidance on treating youth with ‘gender dysphoria'”

“Canada’s family doctors are getting new guidance on how to manage the burgeoning number of teens identifying as transgender.

A new review article published Monday urges doctors to take a “thoughtful, affirming” approach and to avoid “influencing the adolescent to move down a path they would not have chosen for themselves.”

“The youth’s voice is always paramount,” the authors write in a special issue on transgender health appearing in this week’s edition of the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

A recent Canadian study found less than half of transgender youth are comfortable discussing their health care needs with their family doctor.

“Although the consensus in the medical community in the 1960s and 1970s was to view gender variance through a disease model in which associated behaviours, expression and declared identity were deemed pathological and in need of correction,” the authors write in the CMAJ, “the current approach is an affirming one that does not view gender variance as pathological.”

  8. It’s different now.
in the past, we dealt with people who had different political opinions.
I think we now have a party of evil people who have become desperate in their task of destroying what America is.
They did well with the Bushes who always gave them half of what they wanted.
They could wait for the other half.
But Obama made them think they could have it all at once.
(abortion, homosexual promotion, gender neutrality, open borders etc.)
They are utterly fearful that we will get a Supreme Court Judge who read the Constitution.

“This past weekend’s big news was a big media frame-up of kids and the beating of a leftist drum by a little Indian. There’s no need now to elaborate on how the Covington Catholic High School students may end up being 2019’s most unfairly maligned group; their innocence has already been established. But suffice it to say that with video-recording devices ubiquitous today — and with incidents such as last Friday’s Lincoln Memorial affair shot by multiple people from many angles — if there’s no footage of something that allegedly happened there, it didn’t happen, period.

What did happen was that Talking Bull (Nathan Phillips), a professional agitator and American Indian separatist, was given a forum in which to spew nonsensical ideas.”

  11. All I know is there are a whole lot of people out there who should be ashamed of themselves. These boys were preyed on by one side to bash a President, and let down by their own who were too weak willed, cowardly, and worried about PR to wait for the facts before passing judgement. Not to mention what the spineless, clueless Twitterverse did to them. Sad.

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/01/demonizing_catholic_schoolboys.html

“When a short clip of Phillip’s taunting of Sandmann went viral, the leftist media pounced. They accused Sandmann of being the aggressor and of being disrespectful of the “tribal elder” who was banging a drum in his face. They reported that the other students had surrounded Phillips and mocked and ridiculed him. Phillips, a professional protester with a history of making disputed racial accusations, then lied to the media: “There was a moment when I realized I’ve put myself between beast and prey. These young men were beastly, and these old black individuals was their prey, and I stood in between them and so they needed their pounds of flesh and they were looking at me for that”.

The mainstream media spent the next two news cycles demonizing the Catholic schoolboys. They called the teens hateful racists and demanded that their school punish them with expulsion. From CNN, Ana Navarro called the boys’ parents “@#$wipes” for teaching them “bigotry and racism” and Bakari Sellers suggested that Sandmann deserved to be punched in the face. Other reporters accused the kids of being Nazis and white nationalists. None of the accusers bothered to gather any facts first.

Afraid they may miss the virtue signaling bandwagon, many John McCain-type conservative pundits leaped to join the smear campaign. National Review’s Nicholas Frankovich, Ben Shapiro, S.E. Cupp, Bill Kristol, and McCain’s daughter Meghan were among those quick to believe the worst of the pro-life, conservative teens and excoriate them. Frankovich accused them of “spitting on the cross”. If ever conservatives needed an event to smoke out the true nature of fake commentators on the right, this was it.

Hollywood “celebrities” quickly joined in the hate fest and began identifying the students and calling for violence against them. Disney producer Jack Morrissey called for them “…to go screaming, hats first, into the woodchipper” with a grisly graphic depiction. Kathy Griffin urged her 2 million followers to identify the kids by name. After calling for them to be shot, a Los Angeles DJ called Uncle Shoes tweeted at his 40-thousand followers demanding, “LOCK THE KIDS IN THE SCHOOL AND BURN THAT @#$# TO THE GROUND”.

Thousands of vile, racist threats and doxing piled up against the kids on social media. Twitter, which regularly bans conservatives for speaking rudely, refused to suspend the blue-check-marked terrorists, explaining that the threats of violence and mass murder did not violate their terms of service.

If the kids thought that maybe their church or school would defend them, or at least learn the facts before throwing them to the mob, they had another thing coming. Before gathering any evidence independently, the students’ own Archdiocese in Cincinnati condemned the students and apologized to Phillips and Native Americans everywhere. Their parochial school’s headmaster promised an investigation followed by expulsions. Having earned a well-deserved reputation for abusing children, the church stayed true to form.”

He told Pelosi, “It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!”

Trump thanked Pelosi for sending letters to invite him to deliver the State of the Union and then another one that “expressed concerns regarding security” during the address due to the shutdown.

He reminded Pelosi that “[E]ven prior to asking, I was contacted by the Department of Homeland Security and the United States Secret Service to explain that there would be absolutely no problem regarding security with respect to the event” and that they have even made this known to the public.

    Trump continued:

Accordingly, there are no security concerns regarding the State of the Union Address. Therefore, I will be honoring your invitation, and fulfilling my Constitutional duty, to deliver important information to the people and Congress of the United States of America regarding the State of our Union.

I look forward to seeing you on the evening on January 29th in the Chamber of the House of Representatives. It would be so very sad for our Country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!”

… Extreme partisan polarization is combining with the technology of social media, and especially Twitter, to provoke a form of recurrent political madness among members of the country’s cultural and intellectual elite. And that madness, when combined with the rising extremism of the populist right, is pushing the country toward a dangerously illiberal forms of politics.

Cultivating and sustaining liberal politics in a continent-wide nation of well over 300 million people is hard work. This is especially true when ideological polarization and technological developments encourage political and cultural trends that make it harder. Both conspired to help put Donald Trump in the White House. But they’ve also given us an illiberal reaction to his presidency on the part of progressive activists, journalists, and other media personalities.

Much has been made of the way Twitter serves as a megaphone for popular anger that’s made more intense by the speed of the news cycle and the distinctive malice and ineptitude of the Trump White House. But too little attention has been paid to what may be the most potent facet of the social media platform: its ability to feed the vanity of its users … . The more one expresses outrage at the evils of others, the more one gets to enjoy the adulation of the virtual mob. …

… It increasingly feels like it’s just a matter of time before real-world violence breaks out in response to an online conflagration. …

… What Twitter shows us is a real-time ultrasound of the souls of America’s cultural and intellectual elite and its most committed activists — the people in charge of disseminating knowledge and who take the lead in organizing political action in our society. The picture it reveals is ugly, vulgar, shrill, and intolerant, with souls exhibiting an incapacity to deliberate, weigh evidence, and judge judiciously. …

Cuomo, delighted that the New York legislature passed the Reproductive Health Act which would allow mothers to kill (pardon me, abort) their babies up until birth, celebrated this legalized murder by ordering that the spire at One World Trade Center, the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, the Kosciuszko Bridge and the Alfred E. Smith Building in Albany all be lit in pink on Tuesday night.

Cuomo chortled, “The Reproductive Health Act is a historic victory for New Yorkers and for our progressive values. In the face of a federal government intent on rolling back Roe v. Wade and women’s reproductive rights, I promised that we would enact this critical legislation within the first 30 days of the new session – and we got it done. I am directing that New York’s landmarks be lit in pink to celebrate this achievement and shine a bright light forward for the rest of the nation to follow.”

  23. The Catholic diocese hired a PR firm and we got some interesting comments. First, a boy mentioned he asked a teacher to cover the noise made by Black Hebrews with a school cheer….according to him as an all boys school their cheering could get loud and boisterous. Here he’s reaching for a boys will be boys theme. The teacher instead of suggesting they move away agreed and boys responded with the haka. The haka is a Maori dance used mostly by the New Zealand rugby team. Its made to issue a challenge to their opponents. Probably not an appropriate cheer to defuse the situation….and the teacher should’ve known and instead move the boys away from the Hebrews. Instead as video demonstrates the two groups moved closer. The teacher simply stood between the two groups instead of moving the group away and discouraging the boys from engaging in an insult exchange. Thus instead of ending the freak show he simply stood there. Having been in similar situations with on class trips I can honestly say I would’ve discouraged interactions and moved my students not approved a haka dance.

  25. Once the internet read the boy state, we are so loud and boisterous we are known as Colonel’s Crazies, the internet went to work and sure enough found some evidence of crazy; several boys in blackface standing on the sidelines taunting an opposing black basketball player. Now the crowd was dressed completely in black as a theme but several covered their entire upper body in black body paint. Team spirit perhaps but again faculty should’ve informed students blackface is unacceptable as is taunting almost right on the court itself. I’ve kicked out some of own students for much less. Teachers need to demand school spirit tempered by respect and sportsmanship.

Unbelievably, the referees allowed this to occur. In a city semi final, I’ve asked refs to eject fans from opposing teams for much less. It appears these boys got a pass…this isn’t boys will be boys this is bigoted, toxic masculity tolerated and abetted by the admin.

Even a priest affiliated with the school, seems to be part of the toxic culture. He tweeted (now deleted) of the women’s march…feminists were all ugly, beautiful women have better things to do…

One teacher could lead the students to say the other side of the memorial while a second teacher would remain to redirect late arriving students. Ive done this before you don’t argue about who has the right to be there, you move away…its not he time or place for confrontation.

  30. HRW – The boy’s “smirk” can easily be understood as an awkward smile. He was trying to keep the smile on his face, which of course makes it look awkward, not natural.

I haven’t seen the whole video, but supposedly there is a point where he shushes a classmate behind or beside him, trying to show the man some respect.

But even if it was a smirk, considering Mr. Phillips came right up to him and locked eyes with him, and then stayed there, “in his face”, I wouldn’t blame a kid too much for smirking, thinking “What are you doing beating that drum in my face?”. (Not that I would do that.)
