Prayer Requests 1-9-19

Anyone have something to share?

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajisuun and The Gambia.

Psalm 132

Lord, remember David
    and all his self-denial.

He swore an oath to the Lord,
    he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
“I will not enter my house
    or go to my bed,
I will allow no sleep to my eyes
    or slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place for the Lord,
    a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

We heard it in Ephrathah,
    we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:
“Let us go to his dwelling place,
    let us worship at his footstool, saying,
‘Arise, Lord, and come to your resting place,
    you and the ark of your might.
May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;
    may your faithful people sing for joy.’”

10 For the sake of your servant David,
    do not reject your anointed one.

11 The Lord swore an oath to David,
    a sure oath he will not revoke:
   “One of your own descendants
    I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
    and the statutes I teach them,
   then their sons will sit
    on your throne for ever and ever.”

13 For the Lord has chosen Zion,
    he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,
14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever;
    here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.
15 I will bless her with abundant provisions;
    her poor I will satisfy with food.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation,
    and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.

17 “Here I will make a horn grow for David
    and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame,
    but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”

  1. The Hassaniyya are a people group living in the Sahel areas of the Sahara Desert, ranging from Mauritania to Sudan. They are extremely unreached and very nomadic. They will travel with their herds of camels and cows looking for pastoral lands in groups of 2,000–3,000 people. Very few live in cities or towns, so ministry must take place wherever they are.

    They call themselves Muslims, but are very animistic in their practice; they believe in ancestral worship, wear charms/amulets on their arms for many reasons including good luck, protection, and riches.

    Please pray…
    May God open their eyes to the truth of who Jesus is. May they know the true God who is all-powerful and more able to help than any amulet or spiritual enemy.

    Pray for workers; it is difficult and there are only a few trying to reach this people group. Pray for wisdom to know how to connect.

    Pray for access to health care and education among the Hassaniyya. They have no clean water or medical access. The children do not attend school due to their nomadic nature.

  2. I have an eye appointment with a specialist today to check out my epi-retinal membranes. Please pray all goes smoothly. I called after 5 p.m. not expecting to get an appointment while Wesley is still home. I was so surprised to get this appointment for the day after I called. Praise God.

  4. Hi Jo, you were not up there when I posted (must not have refreshed) so I came back here to request prayer for you and your flights. May God surround you with His joy and peace and give you comfort.

  5. Lord, we pray you would be with Jo as she travels. We ask that you would govern her flights and that she would fly without back pain.

    Be part of her conversations, enable her to sleep and travel in safety.

    If there’s anything wrong with the planes, we pray it would be obvious before she takes off rather than later.

    Amen.

  6. Praise God that the specialist was able to determine the epi retinal membranes are not a significant problem, and cataract surgery should put me in good shape to drive again. My eyes are still dilated and I feel about blind for the moment. Thank you for praying. Wesley has been getting a workout driving in Atlanta traffic. Two drivers almost sideswiped us on the way home on the expressway.
