NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ (WABC/CNN) – Several police officers, including one who scaled a building to rescue a trapped family of four, are being hailed as heroes after saving residents from a fire at a New Jersey condominium complex.
When Port Authority Police Officer John Shaughnessy noticed flames coming from a condo near his own home Saturday night, he immediately sprang into action, going to assist North Brunswick police, who were just arriving on scene.
Shaughnessy and the responding officers began banging on windows and the walls of the first floor units to alert occupants about the fire. Police body camera shows video of the officers running to help.
Unfortunately, the only way out of the building was a wooden stairwell right in the middle of it, which was fully engulfed with flames.
A family of four, two grandparents, a 4-year-old girl and her 6-month-old brother, ended up trapped on a second floor balcony, so North Brunswick Officer Joe Grasso quickly scaled the building to reach the victims.
“I did a pull up onto the second floor balcony, and from that point, I started to assist lowering the children down to my fellow officers,” Grasso said. “It was very terrifying.”
The officer gently dropped the two children, wrapped in blankets, down about 15 feet to Shaughnessy, who was waiting below with additional emergency personnel.”
He should be Time’s Man of the Year. But they have their agenda so……

“The Department of Justice is requesting that the justification of an FBI raid on a reportedly recognized whistleblower’s home remain secret, according to a letter from U.S. Attorney Robert Robert Hur.
The letter was sent to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland on Dec. 7 in response to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Nov. 30 request to unseal court documents that would show the FBI’s rationale for the raid.
The documents could potentially reveal whether the bureau and the magistrate who signed the court order allowing the raid, Stephanie A. Gallagher, knew that the subject was, according to his lawyer, a recognized whistleblower.
Sixteen FBI agents raided Dennis Cain’s Union Bridge, Maryland, home on Nov. 19 for six hours, even though Cain told them that he was a recognized whistleblower and handed classified documents over to the agents.
The documents Cain possessed reportedly showed that federal officials failed to investigate potential criminal activity regarding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Clinton Foundation, and the Russian company that purchased Uranium One.
Cain gave the documents to Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who had a senior official from his office hand-deliver them to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, according to Cain’s layer, Michael Socarras.”

Lawmakers are scrambling to finish a long-promised deal to tackle sexual harassment on Capitol Hill — over a year after a series of harassment scandals forced several members of Congress to resign.
“We are much closer than we’ve ever been, and we are aiming to be in the end-of-the-year [legislative] package,” said Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, a leader on the Senate’s version of the bill, last week. “People really want to get it done.”
Under the current rules, members of Congress have been able to use taxpayer dollars for settlements stemming from sexual harassment allegations.
Klobuchar makes it sound as if they’re close to the finish line, but are they really? The House passed legislation back in February (unanimously!) that would make members personally liable for such payments in cases of both sexual harassment and discrimination complaints, end the slush fund and introduce more transparency. But somehow the Senate couldn’t seem to agree to it.
The Senate version of the bill only holds members liable for harassment claims, not discrimination. And the transparency issue seems to be a bit more cloudy. Thus far, all Mitch McConnell has said is the same statement he released a few months ago, saying the Senate would “pass something” by the end of the year. Meanwhile, the two chambers are now looking at passing separate bills having different standards for the House and Senate.”
“Prosecutors investigating President Trump made big news Friday, but it wasn’t about Russia. Rather, in their sentencing recommendation for fixer Michael Cohen, lawyers with the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York wrote that in the final weeks of the 2016 campaign, candidate Trump directed Cohen to pay off Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, who wanted money to keep quiet about sexual dalliances. While such arrangements are legal, prosecutors argued that since the payoffs occurred during the campaign, they were violations of campaign finance laws.”

Michelle, when I was in my late twenties, most of my friends were singles a few years older. Most of my colleagues were married men or single women, and the women in my circles (church, work) were mostly ten to twenty years older.
I commented once to a friend nearly twenty years older that I was the only one I knew who was “content” to be single. She said simply, “It gets harder as you get older.” That caught my attention a bit, and indeed I found that to be true. While I had determined that if I was still single at 30 I would consider myself single and not waste my time on “what ifs” or idle talk about “When I get married” as most of those single friends did, it wasn’t long before most of my peers were bearing their third, fourth, and fifth children while I remained single. Even into my forties it remained true that I was the most contented single I knew–but it was also true that being single into my forties left me feeling alone among women. I liked mixed groups better (still do). Getting together in groups of women usually meant conversations about husbands and children. As much as I loved my job, I didn’t want that to be the focus of my conversation. And telling my sister’s “birth stories” seemed lame.
In my forties, a year before I married (but before I had met my husband) I went to California for my widowed brother’s remarriage, staying for several days with my California brother and his family. I spent some time driving around town with his oldest, a young woman who was within two or three years of thirty, and who had already traveled around the world. (She wanted to make it to 40 countries by her 30th birthday, and she succeeded.) We talked briefly about whether she had any interest in marriage, and she brushed it off. She told me she didn’t want to marry someone unless he had as much interest in travel as she did, and unless they could agree on every detail of theology (which she found unlikely). Though I myself was still single, and even content to stay single if that was God’s plan for me (I was doing online dating by then), her answer sounded so naive and so twenty-something simplistic. Who needs to agree on “every detail” of theology, and would you really put “seeing more countries” higher on your list of priorities than marriage and children? Her four younger brothers have all married and most have begun having children, she is now in her mid-thirties, and I can’t help but wonder if travel has yet begun to lose some of its romance and a place to call “home” might not be a bit more appealing today. But with all of culture saying something different, it’s really hard to say, “You aren’t a man, and this won’t satisfy you long-term. You were made for relationship, and this is the most likely decade of your life–by far–to meet and marry. Be open to that possibility now, because you might really regret it later, if you aren’t.”
I’d also urge young women “Don’t go into debt for college. It will come back to bite you later, when you want to stay home with your children.” I’ve seen that one too many times.
“Porn star Stormy Daniels must pay President Donald Trump nearly $293,000 for his attorneys’ fees and another $1,000 in sanctions after her defamation suit against him was dismissed, a federal judge in Los Angeles ordered Tuesday.
Trump’s attorney, Charles Harder, had requested nearly $390,000 in fees, but Judge S. James Otero cut the amount by 25 percent. He also wanted a nearly equal amount in sanctions, but only received $1,000.
Attorney Michael Avenatti, who represents Daniels, tweeted the order “will never hold up on appeal.”
Daniels alleges she had an affair with Trump in 2006 and was paid $130,000 as part of a nondisclosure agreement days before the 2016 presidential election.

Michelle, that article — I can relate. I had a whole list of “don’t want until…” items:
Met my future husband at 20…didn’t want to get married until I was finished with college. That was age 23.
Didn’t want to have kids until we bought a house, and didn’t want to buy a house until we had jobs we liked…age 26.
First baby born when I was 27.
Didn’t want kids closer than three years apart. (Nurse the first year; give my body a break the second year; spend third year trying for / carrying next pregnancy.)
I was one of the lucky ones — able to carry three of three pregnancies in my 30s to term.
And two more in my 40s (well, two live births, out of four pregnancies).
I had such a list for God in my 20s and 30s: bless me in this way at this time. He gave me more blessing in my children than I could have ever imagined. He didn’t have to do it that way. He didn’t have to open my womb at all, or he could have closed it at or well before 35 or any other age.
I am grateful how He broke through my foolishness in thinking that my life would only be happy if things would just go exactly as I wanted.
Praise be to God for how He guides us onto paths of His choosing, for His glory and our good.
Found Trump extremely rude, frequently interrupting Pelosi, essentially mansplaining. Schumer wasn’t much better….pretty smarmy. Pelosi was the adult in the room.

President Trump started the meeting by thanking Pelosi and Schumer for showing up and made his case for additional border security.
“I am proud to shut down the government over border security,” Trump said. “I will take the mantle.”
“They’re pouring into our country. We have to have border security. We have to have a wall,” he continued.
After some back and forth with the Democrat leaders, Pelosi started to panic and said they should not continue in front of the press.
“I don’t think we should have a debate in front of the press on this,” Pelosi said.
“It’s called transparency Nancy,” Trump shot back.”

Found Trump extremely rude, frequently interrupting Pelosi, essentially mansplaining. Schumer wasn’t much better….pretty smarmy. Pelosi was the adult in the room.

“For the first time since the 2018-midterm elections, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with President Trump at the White House Tuesday.
Their meeting was originally supposed to be closed press, but that all changed when the White House press pool was invited into the Oval Office to broadcast their remarks.
President Trump started the meeting by thanking Pelosi and Schumer for showing up and made his case for additional border security.
“I am proud to shut down the government over border security,” Trump said. “I will take the mantle.”
“They’re pouring into our country. We have to have border security. We have to have a wall,” he continued.
After some back and forth with the Democrat leaders, Pelosi started to panic and said they should not continue in front of the press.
“I don’t think we should have a debate in front of the press on this,” Pelosi said.
“It’s called transparency Nancy,” Trump shot back.”
