Prayer Requests 12-3-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 115

Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.

Why do the nations say,
    “Where is their God?”
Our God is in heaven;
    he does whatever pleases him.
But their idols are silver and gold,
    made by human hands.
They have mouths, but cannot speak,
    eyes, but cannot see.
They have ears, but cannot hear,
    noses, but cannot smell.
They have hands, but cannot feel,
    feet, but cannot walk,
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.

All you Israelites, trust in the Lord
he is their help and shield.
10 House of Aaron, trust in the Lord
he is their help and shield.
11 You who fear him, trust in the Lord
he is their help and shield.

12 The Lord remembers us and will bless us:
He will bless his people Israel,
he will bless the house of Aaron,
13 he will bless those who fear the Lord
    small and great alike.

14 May the Lord cause you to flourish,
    both you and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

16 The highest heavens belong to the Lord,
but the earth he has given to mankind.
17 It is not the dead who praise the Lord,
    those who go down to the place of silence;
18 it is we who extol the Lord,
    both now and forevermore.

   Praise the Lord.

  1. Seems like every tie I read the Bible, I come across something I don’t understand.
I was reading Revelation 10 this morning. In verse 6, the mighty angel standing on the land and sea said ” there will be time no longer”.
    If no time, then what?
So. You say. Time is an invention of men to record the passing of events. But because there is no time doesn’t mean there are no events. Something exists and there can’t be past nor future. Just now.
I just can’t rap my mind around the concept that there is no beginning nor end.

  2. Prayer for husband. He is thinking of going truck driving tomorrow but he feels terrible. His next infusion is the seventeenth so he has two weeks available to drive. Wisdom.

It may be that he feels poorly at home because of something in the home. Perhaps the wood stove? Perhaps the mattress topper on our bed? Those toppers, though nice and comfy and much less costly than a new mattress, seem to be made of foam rubber and I wonder if some chemicals are oozing into our airspace.

  3. If some of you could remember Hannah in prayer I would greatly be blessed. She has seemed down and defensive for a while and today I found out she is planning on moving out after the first of the year….today she looked at an apartment in town. She is an adult and I totally support her “independence”….I’m just not certain of the attitude…she has been a blessing of a child…and adult…. 😊

  4. Nancy Jill, do you mind telling us how old she is? Maybe the defensiveness has been a bit of guilt in keeping it a “secret” and also being unsure how you’ll react. Can you buy her something special for her new place and show support that way? (My sister waited till she was 18–and living on her own–to get her ears pierced, but still wasn’t sure how Mom would react. Mom buying her a pair of earrings that Christmas was very helpful to her.)

  5. She is 24….she graduated with her English degree last December and says she has been saving her money from her job she started in Jan after graduation. Truly my desire is for my kiddos to be responsible adults, and find their independence. She does not date and has few friends. She is very pleasant and interacts with others very well but tends to be more introverted. The past couple of months we notice she has been staying in her room more and more not interacting with us much. Perhaps that is the separating herself from us? She does go to church with us…we do not make her as she is an adult making her own decisions. This summer she did ask about her birth family….I gave her all the information and papers I had to give to her and we had a tearful, sweet discussion….but I have not asked her if she tried to contact any of her bio family….I felt if she wanted me to know she would tell me….

  6. Nancy Jill, is she a private person who resents questions? Depending on the person’s personality, some people feel like if you don’t ask questions about important elements of their life, that you don’t care. I too tend to let people tell me what they choose to tell me, but it doesn’t always work well when the matter is important.

  7. Cheryl she does seem to resent any question or unsolicited advice. When she would apply for a job and I offered to her a suggestion given to me by my neighbor, who is an HR professional, she would have an “attitude” with me. She would get short worded with me kind of rolling her eyes and saying “I know”….and leave the room. At that time I told her if she wanted any advise she could ask me anytime but that I would no longer offer it without her initiating the conversation. I get it…she is an adult trying to move forward but we have paid many of her expenses and this may be an interesting adventure for her….I pray she is successful and more so than that, that her desire is to walk rightly before our Lord….
