  2. A traitor for the ages.

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/09/john_kerry_a_traitor_for_the_ages.html

“We had news this past week that John Kerry is undermining the United States once again, working with her enemies, this time the Iranian mullahs trying to salvage his deeply flawed Iran nuclear deal.

Kerry’s notorious 2015 nuclear deal featured the transfer of billions of dollars (1.7 billion of it on pallets stacked with cash) to the world’s leading exporter of Islamic terrorism. Iran’s fanatical mullahs were essentially put on a pathway to acquire nuclear weapons at the end of 10 years. What was even crazier about the deal is that compliance and inspections were to be handled by Iran itself.

As President Trump cancelled the deal and slammed Iran with further sanctions, Kerry has once again gone back to his arrogant old tricks — meeting with the enemy in direct opposition to official American policy. He refuses to deny that told the Iranians to hang on until Trump leaves office, once again giving aid and comfort to a leading American enemy.

Yes, we have seen this movie before.

On April 23, 1971, a young US Navy reserve officer, John Kerry, who had been awarded three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star medal for service in Vietnam, appeared before the Senate Committee of Foreign Relations and described the American military. Via NPR:

“They had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.. . . these are not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command.”

    ——

“After Kerry’s most recent meetings with the Iranians as a private citizen, the president tweeted: “John Kerry had illegal meetings with the very hostile Iranian Regime, which can only serve to undercut our great work to the detriment of the American people. He told them to wait out the Trump Administration! Was he registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act?”

For the record, Article 3 of the US Constitution: “Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.” The Logan Act (1 Stat. 613, 18 U.S.C. § 953, enacted January 30, 1799) is a United States federal law that criminalizes negotiation by unauthorized persons with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States

So here’s the real question: Was there ever a more despicable American than John Kerry?”

  3. Punishing Trump and the economy for success.

Punishing Trump and the Economy for Success

“Donald Trump is a brash, out-of-the-box president who had the temerity to defeat Hillary Clinton and is guilty of heaping scorn on members of Washington’s entrenched ruling class. For this crime, they are punishing him severely. Mostly they are Democrats who created and for years presided over a highly regulated, weak, and short-on-jobs economy and who now seem to be moving even farther left toward outright socialism.

To rid themselves of Donald Trump, a troublesome priest of capitalism and economic abundance, they retaliated with a special prosecutor and a nonstop scorched-earth attack by the media that may first debilitate and then depose him from office by extraordinary means.

In the meantime, the formerly weak economy has become strong under Trump’s stewardship—and, if allowed to continue on course, may permanently raise the definition of “middle class prosperity” to a much higher level of real disposable income.

Trump‘s ongoing tax, regulatory and trade reforms were designed to provide sustained increases in job, wage, and productivity growth over time, and they are likely to do that—but in a burst of “free at last” exuberance, the economy has grown more quickly than a strictly mathematical computer model might have suggested. The economy is “crushing it” says Larry Kudlow. So do the facts.

Instead of the weak, almost jobless economy Trump inherited, we now have a Fed-certified “strong” economy. GDP is growing at a 4.1 percent rate and the Atlanta Fed is forecasting 4.6 percent for the third quarter. Consumer confidence is the highest in 20 years. We have the largest number of jobs in history (155,965,000 in July). Real wages in the last two quarters have been the highest in 70 years. Black and Hispanic unemployment rates are at or near record lows. Overall unemployment is at its lowest since the 1960s. Manufacturing output is trending upward, retail sales are booming, and inflation is tame—thereby suggesting that productivity (output per hour worked) may at long last be increasing. Hallelujah!”

  4. Once again liberals demonstrate their love of projecting their flaws unto others.

    https://nypost.com/2018/09/19/the-drive-to-sink-kavanaugh-is-liberal-totalitarianism/

“If Senate Democrats and their media allies manage to destroy Brett Kavanaugh, they will bring America one step closer to a new, liberal style of totalitarianism.

I don’t use the “T”-word lightly. I’ve spent years pushing back against those who fling it about in free societies like ours. But totalitarianism doesn’t require cartoonish, 1984-style secret police and Big Brother. The classical definition is a society where everything — ethical norms and moral principles and truth itself — is subjugated to political ends.

By that measure, the Democratic campaign to block Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, based on a hazy, uncorroborated, decades-old assault allegation, tends toward the totalitarian. Certainly, it has many of the elements of abusive politics that Americans normally associate with foreign lands untouched by the light of liberty and reason:

An (initially) anonymous accusation, surfaced at the 11th hour, seemingly calculated to strike terror into the hearts of Kavanaugh and his family members and supporters? Check! That came in the form of Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s cryptic statement last week, confirming that she had “received information from an individual concerning the nomination” of Kavanaugh but declining to offer any details.

An accusation that’s impossible to rebut? Check! Senate Democrats are demanding that the FBI look into the allegations first before the Judiciary Committee holds a hearing. But Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, can’t remember the time or location of the alleged incident. An FBI probe is impracticable, not to mention improper given the lack of a federal crime.

Kavanaugh’s integrity is thus besmirched, and the path to the only forum where he could clear his name is obstructed.

A media mob that treats the mere existence of an accusation as proof of its veracity? Check! The examples of this are legion. My favorite came courtesy of the Atlantic writer who claimed that her own run-in with a pervert meant that Kavanaugh is also guilty. This, just a couple of years after Rolling Stone’s University of Virginia fiasco was supposed to have taught reporters a lesson about the importance of listening to the accused as well as the accusers.”
    ——————————

“Even now, Feinstein and her colleagues could back a committee hearing, without which Kavanaugh has no realistic opportunity for mounting a defense. Kavanaugh is a judge and a political operator. But he ‘s also a father and husband.

But no. Senate Dems have settled on the ugliest means available, even by the standards of the body that added the verb “Borking” to our political vocabulary. The question is: Why have Republican high-court nominations brought out the worst from the left, going back to the Ronald Reagan era?

The short answer is that liberals fear their major cultural victories of the past half-century are democratically illegitimate. Not a single one was won at the ballot box, going back to the Supreme Court’s 1965 Griswold decision, which recognized a constitutional right to contraceptives. From abortion to gay marriage, plus a host of less titillating issues, modern liberalism has lived by the Court. And liberals fear their cause will die by the Court.

Unless, that is, they block conservative encroachments into the judiciary by all means necessary. Hence, Borking and Clarence Thomas-ing. And hence, too, the naked slandering of Mitt Romney in the course of the 2012 presidential campaign, to forestall his shifting the Court to the right.”

  5. And once again hypocrisy from Democrats and the media is at an astounding level.

Kavanaugh is being persecuted for an alleged act nearly 40 years ago by a woman who can’t remember where or when it happened. Yet this guy who now has 2 women claiming physical beatings by a sitting Congressman get no hearings to tell their story, and the press largely ignores the whole thing.

    It’s pathetic.

    https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2018/09/drip-keith-drip-ellison-drip-drip.php

“Keith Ellison is leading the race for Attorney General of Minnesota 41-36, according to the Star Tribune poll. But that lead isn’t anywhere near big enough, in my opinion. Revelations about Ellison keep coming out.

The latest comes from Karen Monahan, the second of the two women who have accused Ellison of domestic abuse. Monahan has released a medical record from the Park Nicollet Clinic, dated November 2017, that supports her allegation that Ellison abused her.

Monahan’s reference to “emotional and physical abuse” provides documentation of her story that would be admissible in court. It is hard to see on what basis any voter would think, based on the available evidence–including a transcript of a 911 call by an earlier Ellison girlfriend–that Ellison is not a domestic abuser.

The timing of all this is fraught, obviously. The Democrats are trying to block Judge Brett Kavanaugh from appointment to the Supreme Court, based on a patently false allegation of a non-criminal incident that supposedly happened 36 years ago, when Kavanaugh was a teenager. No Democrat has tried to reconcile opposition to Kavanaugh with support for the recidivist abuser Ellison.”

Texas and OPEC might be a fit. You can be like a Texas Saudi Arabia: your women veiled from head to toe, and inner cities full of one-armed bread thieves, while pedophiles run the place.

I doubt the women would go for it, though there would be some advantages: half the drivers would disappear from congested thoroughfares, and actually some of those sheiks’ wives are most elegantly dressed and not burka-ed up at all. ;–)

  11. Boy Ricky, for someone who claims to know so much about economics you sometimes fail to grasp easy concepts.

While the US is now leading the world in production thanks to Trump policies, they aren’t the only ones producing. And simple economics tells us that a large producer group like OPEC still has and does exploit the ability to affect global prices. No matter how much the US produces, this will still be the case. So Trump is once again correct.

  13. What’s wrong with this picture?

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/brett-kavanaughs-accuser-gets-all-the-attention-while-keith-ellisons-gets-none

“Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser gets all the attention, while Keith Ellison’s gets none”

“If you know the name Christine Blasey Ford but not Karen Monahan, you must ask yourself, “Why?”

In the past few weeks, the nation has been transfixed on nearly every detail surrounding the confirmation process of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. The week after the contentious hearings, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, indicated that she possessed a letter charging the nominee with sexual misconduct while a teenager in the early 1980s. Since then, and especially now that we know the accuser’s name, it’s been a literal he said/she said.

While the mainstream media is focused on what comes next in the ongoing D.C. drama, Democrats remain suspiciously quiet concerning allegations about Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn. The claims of abuse against the current congressman, deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, and candidate for Minnesota Attorney General are serious and most importantly, documented. If we just compare the two situations, the strength of the claims against Ellison overtake the assertions directed at Kavanaugh. In fact, if Kavanaugh were facing claims similar to those of Ellison, his time on the national stage would be in immediate and serious jeopardy.

Ellison’s accuser took to social media on Monday morning with claims against her own party, the Democrats. But with the makeup of the Supreme Court currently hanging in the balance, who has time to listen to a woman 1,000 miles away from the Washington Beltway? Her story isn’t politically convenient.

According to Monahan, the #MeToo allies within the Democratic Party don’t seem to care about her documented story.

And the powerful aspect of contemporaneous corroboration? It seems to hold no weight.

Though the alleged domestic assault, which includes being dragged out of bed by her feet, is said to have been caught on video, it is readily apparent that the Democratic machine just doesn’t really care.
“Democrats investigating a Democratic attorney general nominee, I wouldn’t expect much,” said University of Minnesota political science professor Larry Jacobs. “This looks like to me damage control, national and state Democratic Party are going through the steps of conducting an investigation but I don’t think we should be holding our breath.”

    “Going through the steps.”

Perhaps Monahan’s greatest mistake is that she is accusing one of her own of egregious behavior that would not be tolerated if Ellison were a member of the Republican Party. While some leftist women’s groups have called Ellison out, there is no strong showing from Democratic leadership of the state or national variety. In the #MeToo era, this lack of concern is obvious.”

  14. I also heard Cruz was up by a couple of points. And now if I’m not mistaken, here in TN, Blackburn (R) is up a couple of points over former Governor/Nashville Mayor Bredesen (D). I was beginning to worry about that one. Bredesen is not a TN native. He was born in NJ and raised in NY, and didn’t move to TN until after he married. His terms in office were before I moved back to TN. He doesn’t seem like a radical Democrat, but any Democrat in the Senate right now would be bad news for judicial confirmations, I think.

Ohr, who worked for Fusion GPS, the firm behind the Steele dossier, was scheduled to appear for interviews during a joint session with the House Judiciary and House Oversight & Government Reform committees. But two congressional sources said that she is not cooperating with the requests and will have to be subpoenaed to compel her appearance.

The sources also said that former FBI general counsel James Baker is not cooperating with the committees’ request for an interview.

The decision to not show up has caused the teetering Republicans to push for a confirmation vote if nothing happens on Monday.

To make matters worse, Feinstein won’t give the Republicans the letter that contains the accusations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh. Does this mean that no one else has actually seen the letter? Just Feinstein? How does she expect Ford to get a proper hearing on Monday if everyone else lacks all the tools?

Trump’s incredibly guilty and weird behavior throughout the Russia probe including constant attacks on US law enforcement and intelligence personnel and his own appointees plus his docile stooge-like attitude toward Russia including the Helsinki debacle can only be explained in one of three ways:

    1. HRW’s suggestion that the obvious answer is probably correct and that Trump and/or his cronies/families engaged in serious illegal behavior with Russians as they interfered in the US election;

    2. My suggestion that Trump hired pro-Russian dunces and Trump, his family and/or cronies engaged in stupid, but relatively harmless collusion with Russians as Russia interfered in the US election. Trump then made things much worse by firing Comey, trying to impede the investigation, serving as Putin’s poodle and lying about the probe every chance he got.

The blog Cult of the First Amendment says:

On Monday Sept. 17th, Christine Blasey Ford’s high school yearbooks suddenly disappeared from the web. I read them days before, knew they would be scrubbed, and saved them. Why did I know they would be scrubbed? Because if roles were reversed, and Christine Blasey Ford had been nominated for the Supreme Court by President Trump, the headline by the resistance would be this:

CHRISTINE BLASEY FORD AND THE DRUNKEN WHITE PRIVILEGED RACIST PLAYGIRLS OF HOLTON-ARMS.

And it would be an accurate headline. That’s why the yearbooks have been scrubbed. They are a testament to the incredible power these girls had over their teachers, parents and the boys of Georgetown Prep, Landon and other schools in the area. In the pages below, you will see multiple photos and references to binge drinking and the accompanying joy of not being able to remember any of it.

The most revealing page in that regard is this one, which seems to indicate that drunken keg parties were a frequent pastime for the Holton-Arms girls:”
