We have the largest number of jobs in history (155,965,000 in July). Real wages in the last two quarters have been the highest in 70 years. Black and Hispanic unemployment rates are at or near record lows. Overall unemployment is at its lowest since the 1960s. Manufacturing output is trending upward, retail sales are booming, and inflation is tame—thereby suggesting that productivity (output per hour worked) may at long last be increasing. Hallelujah!”

An accusation that’s impossible to rebut? Check! Senate Democrats are demanding that the FBI look into the allegations first before the Judiciary Committee holds a hearing. But Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, can’t remember the time or location of the alleged incident. An FBI probe is impracticable, not to mention improper given the lack of a federal crime.
Kavanaugh’s integrity is thus besmirched, and the path to the only forum where he could clear his name is obstructed.
A media mob that treats the mere existence of an accusation as proof of its veracity? Check! The examples of this are legion. My favorite came courtesy of the Atlantic writer who claimed that her own run-in with a pervert meant that Kavanaugh is also guilty. This, just a couple of years after Rolling Stone’s University of Virginia fiasco was supposed to have taught reporters a lesson about the importance of listening to the accused as well as the accusers.”

Kavanaugh is being persecuted for an alleged act nearly 40 years ago by a woman who can’t remember where or when it happened. Yet this guy who now has 2 women claiming physical beatings by a sitting Congressman get no hearings to tell their story, and the press largely ignores the whole thing.

Debra, There is much truth in your comment. When I was young, Texans felt the same level of attachment to Saudis and New Yorkers, but 9/11 changed that in a very big way.
Boy Ricky, for someone who claims to know so much about economics you sometimes fail to grasp easy concepts.
While the US is now leading the world in production thanks to Trump policies, they aren’t the only ones producing. And simple economics tells us that a large producer group like OPEC still has and does exploit the ability to affect global prices. No matter how much the US produces, this will still be the case. So Trump is once again correct.

In the past few weeks, the nation has been transfixed on nearly every detail surrounding the confirmation process of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. The week after the contentious hearings, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, indicated that she possessed a letter charging the nominee with sexual misconduct while a teenager in the early 1980s. Since then, and especially now that we know the accuser’s name, it’s been a literal he said/she said.
While the mainstream media is focused on what comes next in the ongoing D.C. drama, Democrats remain suspiciously quiet concerning allegations about Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn. The claims of abuse against the current congressman, deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, and candidate for Minnesota Attorney General are serious and most importantly, documented. If we just compare the two situations, the strength of the claims against Ellison overtake the assertions directed at Kavanaugh. In fact, if Kavanaugh were facing claims similar to those of Ellison, his time on the national stage would be in immediate and serious jeopardy.
Ellison’s accuser took to social media on Monday morning with claims against her own party, the Democrats. But with the makeup of the Supreme Court currently hanging in the balance, who has time to listen to a woman 1,000 miles away from the Washington Beltway? Her story isn’t politically convenient.
According to Monahan, the #MeToo allies within the Democratic Party don’t seem to care about her documented story.

I also heard Cruz was up by a couple of points. And now if I’m not mistaken, here in TN, Blackburn (R) is up a couple of points over former Governor/Nashville Mayor Bredesen (D). I was beginning to worry about that one. Bredesen is not a TN native. He was born in NJ and raised in NY, and didn’t move to TN until after he married. His terms in office were before I moved back to TN. He doesn’t seem like a radical Democrat, but any Democrat in the Senate right now would be bad news for judicial confirmations, I think.

Instead of the weak, almost jobless economy Trump inherited, we now have a Fed-certified “strong” economy. GDP is growing at a 4.1 percent rate and the Atlanta Fed is forecasting 4.6 percent for the third quarter. Consumer confidence is the highest in 20 years. We have the largest number of jobs in history (155,965,000 in July). Real wages in the last two quarters have been the highest in 70 years. Black and Hispanic unemployment rates are at or near record lows. Overall unemployment is at its lowest since the 1960s. Manufacturing output is trending upward, retail sales are booming, and inflation is tame—thereby suggesting that productivity (output per hour worked) may at long last be increasing. Hallelujah!”

But Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, can’t remember the time or location of the alleged incident. An FBI probe is impracticable, not to mention improper given the lack of a federal crime.
Kavanaugh’s integrity is thus besmirched, and the path to the only forum where he could clear his name is obstructed.
A media mob that treats the mere existence of an accusation as proof of its veracity? Check! The examples of this are legion. My favorite came courtesy of the Atlantic writer who claimed that her own run-in with a pervert meant that Kavanaugh is also guilty. This, just a couple of years after Rolling Stone’s University of Virginia fiasco was supposed to have taught reporters a lesson about the importance of listening to the accused as well as the accusers.”

I doubt the women would go for it, though there would be some advantages: half the drivers would disappear from congested thoroughfares, and actually some of those sheiks’ wives are most elegantly dressed and not burka-ed up at all. ;–)

Boy Ricky, for someone who claims to know so much about economics you sometimes fail to grasp easy concepts.
While the US is now leading the world in production thanks to Trump policies, they aren’t the only ones producing. And simple economics tells us that a large producer group like OPEC still has and does exploit the ability to affect global prices. No matter how much the US produces, this will still be the case. So Trump is once again correct.
Perhaps you need an economic refresher course at your local community college. 🙂

In the past few weeks, the nation has been transfixed on nearly every detail surrounding the confirmation process of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. The week after the contentious hearings, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, indicated that she possessed a letter charging the nominee with sexual misconduct while a teenager in the early 1980s. Since then, and especially now that we know the accuser’s name, it’s been a literal he said/she said.
While the mainstream media is focused on what comes next in the ongoing D.C. drama, Democrats remain suspiciously quiet concerning allegations about Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn. The claims of abuse against the current congressman, deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, and candidate for Minnesota Attorney General are serious and most importantly, documented. If we just compare the two situations, the strength of the claims against Ellison overtake the assertions directed at Kavanaugh. In fact, if Kavanaugh were facing claims similar to those of Ellison, his time on the national stage would be in immediate and serious jeopardy.
Ellison’s accuser took to social media on Monday morning with claims against her own party, the Democrats. But with the makeup of the Supreme Court currently hanging in the balance, who has time to listen to a woman 1,000 miles away from the Washington Beltway? Her story isn’t politically convenient.
According to Monahan, the #MeToo allies within the Democratic Party don’t seem to care about her documented story.
And the powerful aspect of contemporaneous corroboration? It seems to hold no weight.
Though the alleged domestic assault, which includes being dragged out of bed by her feet, is said to have been caught on video, it is readily apparent that the Democratic machine just doesn’t really care.
“Democrats investigating a Democratic attorney general nominee, I wouldn’t expect much,” said University of Minnesota political science professor Larry Jacobs. “This looks like to me damage control, national and state Democratic Party are going through the steps of conducting an investigation but I don’t think we should be holding our breath.”

Perhaps Monahan’s greatest mistake is that she is accusing one of her own of egregious behavior that would not be tolerated if Ellison were a member of the Republican Party. While some leftist women’s groups have called Ellison out, there is no strong showing from Democratic leadership of the state or national variety. In the #MeToo era, this lack of concern is obvious.”

I also heard Cruz was up by a couple of points. And now if I’m not mistaken, here in TN, Blackburn (R) is up a couple of points over former Governor/Nashville Mayor Bredesen (D). I was beginning to worry about that one. Bredesen is not a TN native. He was born in NJ and raised in NY, and didn’t move to TN until after he married. His terms in office were before I moved back to TN. He doesn’t seem like a radical Democrat, but any Democrat in the Senate right now would be bad news for judicial confirmations, I think.

Ricky, The President probably uses the same definition of monopoly that his buddy, Peter Thiel uses when he says monopolies are the only businesses worth investing in. It is a little schizophrenic, but these are schizophrenic times when virtues and vices are interchangeable ‘goods’. And anything–including ideas— that can be conceptually monetized for consumption is expected to be owned and sold for profit. :–/

I thought there were realistic limits to the things we think should be bought and sold, but just yesterday, Cyrus was telling me of an interview he saw with a professor. The Professor was saying he wouldn’t be satisfied until every last bit of the ocean was privately owned; that way we could be assured the Earth’s waters were being ‘taken care of’. I thought he must be an escapee from a mental institution until I looked it up. And yep. Individuals or companies should own all the land and waters on the earth, including the oceans.

Trump’s incredibly guilty and weird behavior throughout the Russia probe including constant attacks on US law enforcement and intelligence personnel and his own appointees plus his docile stooge-like attitude toward Russia including the Helsinki debacle can only be explained in one of three ways:
1. HRW’s suggestion that the obvious answer is probably correct and that Trump and/or his cronies/families engaged in serious illegal behavior with Russians as they interfered in the US election;
2. My suggestion that Trump hired pro-Russian dunces and Trump, his family and/or cronies engaged in stupid, but relatively harmless collusion with Russians as Russia interfered in the US election. Trump then made things much worse by firing Comey, trying to impede the investigation, serving as Putin’s poodle and lying about the probe every chance he got.
3. The Cult’s fantastic fairy tale of this huge conspiracy which included the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, intelligence agencies of all our allies, FISA judges, Bob Woodward, the mainstream press in all Western nations, tapps, illegal unmaskings, Deep States, Soft Coups, Obama, Australia, Seth Rich and the pizza pedophiles.
We can all place our bets, and I believe all will find something in Mueller’s report to support their position. However, as always The Cult’s position will take a much greater leap of faith than the other two.

Having said that, I do agree that Dr. Ford should indeed testify soon. My quibble was with the equating the two phrases in bold.
