It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.
Anyone else?
Psalm 3
1 Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”
3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain.
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
6 I will not fear though tens of thousands
assail me on every side.
7 Arise, Lord!
Deliver me, my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
The whole local gang heads to Potter Valley this afternoon for a family retreat with old and dear friends.
I’m a fair wreck because the camp is located at the end of a long narrow road to a fork of the Eel River–not very far from the evacuation area for the western end of the MendocinoComplexFire.
Everyone assures me it will be fine, that smoke isn’t even a problem, but I’m still a bit unnerved.
And we’ll have an 8 months pregnant woman with us.
If that wasn’t enough, all my proofs for Poppy have just arrived and I need to turn them over as soon as possible–which means I’ll be rereading two versions of the manuscript this weekend.
Other than that, can you pray that we’re open to what God has to teach us in and through circumstances, conversations and truth?
Thanks.

My leg is still somewhat sore and needs to be babied a bit (still not doing stairs), but is feeling much better than it was yesterday. Thank you for your prayers.

Please pray for wisdom for Nightingale as she considers buying a new vehicle. A local garage has a Honda CRV for sale. It is a 2011 with only 83,000 miles on it. She says it is very rare to find a CRV, which are known for good quality, with less than 100,000 miles on them. It is a little more than we wanted to spend (we’re using some insurance money for it), but it seems well worth it.
Please pray, too, that she will get a good deal on trading in our 2004 Chevy Impala.

CRVs are very popular, a friend just bought one (new, she has money 🙂 ) Our former photo editor has driven them for years. They have a very good reputation.

In fact his old CRV, with something like 250,000 miles on it, now belongs to his son and is still going strong.
My one gripe about them is that they all seem to come only in silver. But that’s a minor gripe 🙂 They’re good cars, hope she can get it.

My 2006 had 125K miles, one minor dent and no mechanical problems. Blue book was $5K. A great car and my son is relieved to own it–particularly during the fires. You can find the value here: https://www.kbb.com/

I had to argue to get a white one. Honda really likes silver.

Yes, what is it about silver and Hondas? My friend got the silver even though I urged her to hold out (since she was buying new, after all). But silver was what they had, she didn’t mind it, and wanted to get something quickly, had long since decided on a CRV when she was going to replace her aging Honda sedan.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a silver one. Maybe all the ones make special for California are silver. Around here most are black. Son and DIL had a black one but moved up to and Odyssey when they need two kiddo car seats.

My sister (in the Midwest) had a green CRV for many years. I’ve also seen a red one around these parts. Maybe there are regional variations/favorites? (Though I haven’t paid much attention to what other CRV colors there may be around here.)
Anyway, prayers for both of you, Kizzie and Michelle, and your families.
Michelle, I understand your trepidation because of where your camp is situated. We live on a dead-end road with hills and heavy tree cover. The thought sometimes comes to mind about where we would go if we needed to get off our road if the open end was blocked by fire or something.
Praying for your peace.

For those who prayed for my neck /gland pain the other day, thank you. I have been feeling OK since mid-day yesterday. I was concerned because I really didn’t want to go to the doctor (didn’t want antibiotics), but also didn’t want it to be anything serious, didn’t want to give it to Hubby, and especially didn’t want to still be dealing with anything when the baby came.

You may have heard on the news of the fifteen year old from our area who died at Glacier last week. He was with his family when he fell down a cliff. His mom is the principal of the local school in Kamiah. That is sad.
But about the same time, another boy lost his life. He was riding with his grandmother when she fell asleep and hit an oncoming car. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. She was taking home home from watching his first daughter being born. He was eighteen. That is sad too though it did not make the big news.
Prayer for both families that they would know Christ through this. And that finances would come together for the young girlfriend as she raises this child.

My daughter, the paramedic, is being sent to California to fight the wild fires. She will be there for 2 weeks. It is a good opportunity for her to make some extra money. Please pray for her safety. Also, please pray for Miguel and I, as we will be keeping her 5 children while she is there. They started their home/public school yesterday(computer based), so that adds extra work. I am scheduled to work 7 out of the next 10 days, and begin classes on the 21st.
