Prayer Requests 8-4-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 148

Praise the Lord.

   Praise the Lord from the heavens;
    praise him in the heights above.
Praise him, all his angels;
    praise him, all his heavenly hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon;
    praise him, all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens
    and you waters above the skies.

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
    for at his command they were created,
and he established them for ever and ever—
    he issued a decree that will never pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth,
    you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
    stormy winds that do his bidding,
you mountains and all hills,
    fruit trees and all cedars,
10 wild animals and all cattle,
    small creatures and flying birds,
11 kings of the earth and all nations,
    you princes and all rulers on earth,
12 young men and women,
    old men and children.

13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
    for his name alone is exalted;
    his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
14 And he has raised up for his people a horn,
    the praise of all his faithful servants,
    of Israel, the people close to his heart.

   Praise the Lord.

  1. Continued prayer for Carol who remains hospitalized and on antibiotics for the infection in her fistula. She had an MRI the other night and a urologist has been checking in on her, I’m not sure for what (and Carol tends not to ask questions so she’s never clear on any of it, either). I obviously won’t be visiting this weekend due to my cold, but I’m hoping she’s out of here sometime in the next week.

  2. They talked about a surgery to close it but ultimately decided it would be too risky based on her history of having so many surgeries in her abdomen and an active hernia that also is too risky to repair. I really wish they could close that thing up, it’s a magnet for infections — and she’s had so many IV antibiotic treatments now, she must be building up a dangerous resistance to antibiotic treatments which is not a good thing.

  3. That reminds me of my friend Jenn, the lady I have mentioned here a few times. She has had so many infections from the “bladder tube” she has that they are running out of antibiotics that can help. She often ends up in the hospital on IV antibiotics.

    Since I brought her up, I should make this a prayer request for her. Jenn’s health continues to deteriorate, and one doctor said she should just try to enjoy whatever life she has left. (She’s only about 45, but looks older.) There is a very long and risky surgery (to remove her bladder) the doctors are suggesting, but she puts it off, knowing there is a high chance she won’t survive it.

  4. Update on Fabi, the man in Germany threatening suicide. Renee was in contact with him yesterday, though Facebook messaging, I presume, and despite her efforts, he says he is determined to go through with it, but he doesn’t know exactly when yet.

    I don’t know all the details, but she says he has been bullied all his life, and that has taken an awful toll on how he feels about himself. He described himself as a monster inside. Renee believes strongly in Jesus as Savior, and I believe she is truly saved, but as a Catholic, she doesn’t have the words to reach out to him in a Christian sense, besides her compassionate and loving heart.

    Please pray that the Holy Spirit will get through to this man somehow, that he will find some hope to keep going, and that he will “come to Jesus”.

  5. And also please lift Renee up in prayer, too. She is a very empathetic woman, which can lead her to depression when someone she loves is suffering. (After Hubby died, she went into a depression about it.) This whole thing is taking a huge toll on her emotionally, and if he goes through with it, she will be devastated, and feel guilty for not being able to talk him out of it. I have already told her to not feel guilty, that she has done all she can do.

  6. I’m not sure if she has. (I don’t know where he lives, except that it is in Germany.) I will ask her.

    She did mention something about numbers she tried having been disconnected, but I don’t know what numbers those were.

  7. If you let your local law enforcement know, they should be able to contact the personnel over in Germany and figure out how to reach him, and, if it is real, get him some help. And if it is fake, discourage him from putting out false alarms.

  8. Carol’s on 3 antibiotics via IV including one that’s sensitive to light so it has to be covered — and she has also a UTI which she gets a lot. As I said, I’m worried she’s building up such a resistance to all these antibiotics that treatments are becoming increasingly difficult and lengthy.

  9. My uncle has died — the last sibling my mom had left. Though there is sadness in his passing, we rejoice in knowing he is with his Savior; his faith was strong and unwavering through many earthly trials, including losing a son, who was murdered in childhood, and losing his wife to leukemia seven years ago.

    Your prayers for the family are appreciated. Thank you. 6

  10. Kizzie there is something called munchausen by internet. I hope that is all that is going on. I fell victim of it several years ago. The woman had us all convinced she had neoblastioma (sp) a fast acting brain cancer.

  11. Kim – I have wondered if he is merely manipulating her emotions, even subconsciously. He may even be seriously depressed, but maybe not as serious about suicide as he thinks, and has found some kind of odd comfort in having this dear lady trying to talk him out of it.

    As for what you mentioned, Nightingale has told me of a woman who frequented some single mom’s groups on Facebook, claiming to have cancer and getting people to send her money to help. When she showed up in another group, after having been exposed elsewhere, a couple people who recognized her tried to warn the group, but the administrator kept deleting their posts, saying they were being too judgmental. :-/

  12. Doctors have told Carol that they were ready to send her back home when they noticed something that looked like an intestinal blockage on her cat scan, so more tests needed again.

  13. Carol says the surgeon is supposed to come by to talk to her today. 😦 She really is having some serious internal issues. Praying they can ‘fix’ this with a minimal procedure. I’ve lost count of how many surgeries she’s had in her abdominal area though the years.

  14. Again, that sounds like Jenn. I think she is up to having had over ten surgeries. I’m thinking it might be 13 or 14, but I’m not sure. I can’t imagine going through that kind of thing repeatedly. Poor Carol, and poor Jenn.

  15. Finally heard back from Renee about Fabi. She said they both happened to be online around 2:30am her time (central time), and had a conversation going. She writes:

    “The first thing he said is that he is confused because “There is something happening inside me.” I told him it is the prayers of many people. He is vacillating now between jumping and not, but by the end of our conversation, he really sounded as if he is going to stay living. I am so happy and so grateful for you and your blog friends. I’m sure that you will give them the happy news. Tell them even he is thankful for the prayers, very touched.”

    So let’s continue to pray, especially that Jesus will reveal Himself to Fabi in some way. Thank you.

  16. And Carol called (this is so like her) to say “the surgeon came by and said I could go home.”

    Period.

    “And?” I said.

    “And what?”

    “What did he say about the blockage?”

    “Oh. I don’t know. I guess because I’m not having pain I can go home. I’m watching a Law & Order marathon.”

    Sigh.

    I have no idea if this blockage is something they simply can’t address or what … Well, at any rate, I guess she’s going home, so that’s that.

    I told her not to be afraid to ask a bunch of questions next time but I know she won’t, she’s very passive. I wish I could have been there, but I’m still sick and now am waiting on the painter (who said he won’t be here until 4 because of the heat).

    I need to talk to him about how we’re going to move this job forward at a reasonable time clip, I’ve suggested early mornings would be cooler but he’s a night owl and apparently is up most of the night now watching over his mom who’s still recovering from the fall.

    I have suggested we admit this wasn’t meant to be and I maybe he would like to be free of this burden (and I should be able to find someone else), but he didn’t want to do that (I think he’s probably also spent the deposit I gave him in June and wouldn’t be able to get it back to me). He told me there are “heat warnings” out for Monday and Tuesday which I guess means he won’t be here those days, but those warnings typically are for mid-day work, not early mornings.

    Anyway, pray that whatever conversation we have it will go well for both of us and there will be some kind of an understanding on how we can proceed.
