  1. If they want to be taken seriously, these “experts” should stop with stupid stuff like this.

    http://freebeacon.com/blog/america-not-tenth-dangerous-country-women-idiots/

“A number of news stories have covered a new study out today from The Thomson Reuters Foundation: did you know the United States is one of the ten most dangerous countries in the world to be a woman?

Truly, this survey is an indictment. But not of the United States, of the “experts” who responded to it.

The actual methodology is something of a joke. Rather than comparing statistics on sexual violence, contrasting government policy, or anything that would give us concrete, objective measurement to judge one country against another, Thomson Reuters Foundation polled 548 women’s rights experts across the globe and asked them their opinion on the most dangerous countries.

The experts weren’t completely crazy. The United States didn’t make the top ten lists when asked about women’s access to healthcare, discrimination, human trafficking, or dangerous cultural or religious practices. But the reason it ranked in the aggregate top ten was because the women’s right experts inexplicably ranked the United States as the third worst country in the world for Sexual Violence and the sixth worst for Non-Sexual Violence.

Per the geniuses they consulted, the United States is tied with Syria when it comes to sexual violence against woman, and trails only India and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The United States is apparently worse at combating sexual violence than the Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mexico, Nigeria, Egypt, and Somalia.”

  2. Bring the pain. When the taxpayers have to cover the loss for their politicians sanctuary policies, maybe they’ll change their minds, or better yet, their politicians.

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/jun/27/feds-distributing-grant-money-non-sanctuary-cities/

“The Justice Department said Wednesday it has begun distributing hundreds of millions of dollars in grant money that had been tied up in a major court battle over sanctuary cities.

Byrne Justice Assistance Grants are used by localities and police departments across the nation to pay for equipment, training, personnel or other pressing needs.

The Trump administration last year said it would condition the money on localities’ willingness to cooperate in holding illegal immigrants for pickup by federal deportation officers. Chicago sued, saying the conditions weren’t part of federal law.

A federal district judge had ruled for Chicago, but issued a nationwide injunction saying the conditions couldn’t be applied to any Byrne grants.

The Justice Department put nearly $200 million in 2017 money on hold as the case proceeded.

But on Tuesday an appeals court narrowed the ruling, saying that while the district court could decide the fate of Chicago’s practices, it couldn’t tie the hands of the entire country.”

  3. Thankfully the House rejected the amnesty bill the globalist RINO’s were pushing. 🙂

    http://thehill.com/homenews/house/394437-house-rejects-second-gop-immigration-bill

“The House rejected a Republican compromise bill on immigration Wednesday in a worse-than-expected 121-300 vote, effectively ending a months-long GOP drama that had put the conference’s internal politics on display.

The measure won far fewer GOP votes than a more hard-line measure rejected last week in a 193-231 vote.

Only 121 Republicans backed it, compared to 193 for the earlier measure. Two Republicans did not cast votes on Wednesday, while 112 Republicans voted against it.

Votes on the bill were twice postponed to give Republicans more time to win support for the measure, which was opposed by Democrats.

But conservatives never really warmed to it, and President Trump put down the effort on Twitter, at one point saying that Republicans should stop wasting their time since the bill was seen as dead on arrival in the Senate.
The compromise bill would have provided a pathway to citizenship for so-called Dreamers, the issue that led centrist Republicans to launch a discharge petition to force a series of votes on immigration.

Discharge petitions are a way of getting around the House leadership to force a vote and are rarely used by members in the majority. Democrats backed those Republicans pushing the discharge petition to raise pressure on GOP leaders.

The decision to vote on the hard-line immigration measure last week and the compromise bill on Wednesday was part of a deal within the GOP conference that effectively quashed the petition.”

    https://nypost.com/2018/06/27/peter-strzok-testifies-to-house-panel-behind-closed-doors/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow

“Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who vowed to block President Trump from winning the White House, was on the congressional hot seat Wednesday — providing testimony as part of a joint House probe into the agency’s actions in 2016.”
    —————————

“On Wednesday, he testified behind closed doors before the House Judiciary and Oversight committees amid a barrage of GOP criticism against the Justice Department just five months before the midterm elections.

The House could vote as soon as Thursday on a resolution ordering the department to hand over thousands of documents that Congress has requested by July 6. The resolution was approved by the House Judiciary Committee.

Democrats have accused Republicans of trying to undermine Mueller’s investigation for political gain.

Trump assailed the closed-door interview, tweeting Monday that “the hearing of Peter Strzok and the other hating frauds at the FBI & DOJ should be shown to the public on live television, not a closed door hearing that nobody will see.

“We should expose these people for what they are – there should be total transparency!” he added.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Robert Goodlatte (R-Va.) has said there also will be a public hearing with Strzok, who had a leading role in the probe into whether Clinton illegally mishandled classified information through her use of a private email server while secretary of state.

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2018/06/details-set-for-trump-and-putin-summit-on-july-16/#more-253511

“It’s happening! I cannot wait to see how the left and #NeverTrump will behave when President Donald Trump holds a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The two leaders will meet in Helsinki, Finland, on July 16.

Yesterday, I blogged that a Kremlin official announced the two sides came to an agreement after US national security adviser John Bolton met with Putin on Wednesday. Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov told the media that Trump and Putin “would start with a one-on-one meeting between the presidents that could last several hours, and would focus on bilateral relations, Syria and arms-control issues.

Bolton explained why Trump needs to have this meeting with Putin. From NPR:

Bolton told reporters in Moscow the summit agenda would include a variety of issues, including arms control, but the meeting would not necessarily produce any specific agreements.

He acknowledged that any meeting with Putin is likely to generate some “political noise” in the U.S., where Trump has been dogged by a special counsel’s probe into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“A lot of people have said or implied over time that a meeting between President Trump and President Putin would somehow prove some nexus between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, which is complete nonsense,” Bolton said. “The president recognizes there may be some criticism of this decision to have the meeting. You’ve heard some of it here today. But what must guide his conduct of American foreign policy is the pursuit of American national interests. And he judges — correctly in my view — that this bilateral summit between himself and President Putin is something he needs to do and will do, regardless of political criticism at home.””

“What will the #NeverTrump coalition in the Beltway (with an annex in New York) say now?

For a while, before tax cuts and regulatory reform boosted the economy, before defense spending increased, before Jerusalem was recognized as Israel’s capital, and before a “maximum pressure” campaign led to a detente with North Korea, #NeverTrumpers were fond of mockingly summarizing Trump supporters’ arguments as “But Gorsuch.”

This bit of childish taunting always struck me as an unknowing admission of ignorance about the role assumed by the Supreme Court in modern American governance. Even when 21 appeals court judges took their seats — orchestrated by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his Republican colleagues — still the one-note pundits played on, only louder: President Trump was so awful and evil, and conservatives who supported him had done so for one lousy seat on the Supreme Court.

The implication from all the noise and a thousands posts was that “Gorsuch” wasn’t worth it. Now, after Justice Neil M. Gorsuch’s first year on the court, it will be impossible to overstate what his confirmation has meant.”

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/anthony-kennedy-retirement-from-the-supreme-court-creates-headache-for-red-state-senate-democrats-running-in-states-trump-won

“Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement from the Supreme Court is going to have immediate political consequences by creating a headache for red state Senate Democrats seeking reelection.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said shortly following the retirement that he would hold a vote to confirm any President Trump nominee this fall. Though he didn’t specify whether any vote would technically take place before or after the November midterm elections, any candidate for Senate will have to take a position on the nominee.

Democrats are expected to overwhelmingly oppose any of the 25 names that Trump has promised he’d choose from, and they’ll be under pressure from their base to pull out all stops to try and block a vote.

But the political incentives of the party as a whole are much different than the pressures facing the Democratic Senators up for re-election in red states.

In 2018, there are 10 Democrats seeking re-election in states that Trump carried in 2016. Of those, five races are viewed as “tossups” by Cook Political report: Sens. Bill Nelson of Florida, Joe Donnelly in Indiana, Claire McCaskill in Missouri, Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota, and Joe Manchin in West Virginia.

The difficulty faced by red state Democrats is that even in a more conservative states, a substantial portion of their base is going to be fiercely anti-Trump, and opposed to any of his judicial nominees. At the same time, particularly in the very red states (Missouri, North Dakota, Indiana, and West Virginia) where Trump won big, it’s going to be really difficult to vote “no” on a qualified Supreme Court nominee.”

  13. Finally, something the majority of all parties agree on. 🙂

    https://hotair.com/archives/2018/06/27/demographics-agree-news-outlets-knowingly-run-fake-news/

“It’s nice to know that, in these bitterly divided times, the American public can all come together on at least one important burning issue of the day. And that issue is how much we all mistrust the media. According to a poll commissioned by Axios and conducted by Survey Monkey, nearly three out of four Americans believe that news outlets knowingly run “fake news”:

“Note that the prospect that these outlets run “fake news” more than “rarely” gets a majority in every political demographic. There’s no doubt that the topline number is driven by Republicans, 92% of whom believe this, but so do 79% of independents — four out of every five. It even gets a majority among Democrats.

That’s why the headline at Axios might be an example of the phenomenon. Highlighting that “92% of Republicans think media intentionally reports fake news” ignores the broad consensus of the results. Both Jazz Shaw and Instapundit pointed this out earlier this morning, and it’s a valid complaint. Furthermore, it’s leading other news outlets to ignore the broader findings, too, which is another complaint that people have about editorial bias and manipulated news.

The question is, of course, which news outlets they have in mind. Half of the people in this survey say they fight fake news by “stick[ing] to news sources they trust.” That sounds an awful lot like remaining in one’s ideological bubble. For Democrats, Fox News will undoubtedly be their fake news bête noire, and for some independents it might be as well. Republicans probably have more outlets in mind but at least some of them are keying those responses by grounding themselves in Fox News. Around half in all demographics do some fact-checking through Google searches, but fewer in each demo do anything more than that. In other words, the apparent unity on “fake news” is an inch deep, even though it’s a mile wide.

Part of that inch, though, is a broad consensus that fake-news publishing is purposeful:

More than two-thirds (65%) say fake news is usually reported because “people have an agenda.”
Roughly one-third (30%) believe such information is shared due to laziness or “poor fact-checking.”
Hardly anyone (3%) thinks that fake news makes headlines by accident.”

“Backlash against the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia got a little out of control, and a little gross, on Tuesday, culminating in one 51-year-old protester getting arrested after throwing “chicken poop” in the general direction of the Sarah Huckabee Sanders-persecuting restaurant.

The fallout from the decision of the Red Hen’s owner to ask Sanders to leave because she works for the Trump administration, and then allegedly helping to stir up a protest against Sanders mostly-liberal family afterward, continues.

The owner, Stephanie Wilkinson, has resigned from her role of director of a local non-profit group designed to promote businesses in the city as a result of the distraction she now presents. “Considering the events of the past weekend, Stephanie felt it best, that for the continued success of Main Street Lexington, she should step aside,” the president of the board said.

  19. Not everyone is a Russia-phobe. As Pat Buchanan has pointed out, Americans voted FOR Trump’s improved relations with Russia. I guess he must be part of the Trump Cult…or maybe he’s not a member of any cult (including the cult of Reagan) but just a thinking man who knows that governments routinely interfere in each others elections and stability if they can.

…When China, Russia and Egypt expel NGOs, are their suspicions that some have been seeded with U.S. agents merely marks of paranoia?

The U.S. role in the overthrow of Premier Mossadegh in Iran in 1953, and of Jacobo Arbenz in Guatemala in 1954, and of President Ngo Dinh Diem in Saigon in 1963 are established facts.

When the democratically elected Marxist Salvador Allende was overthrown in Chile in 1973, and committed suicide with an AK-47 given to him by Fidel Castro, the Nixon White House may have had no direct role. But the White House welcomed the ascendancy of Gen. Augusto Pinochet.

What do these indictments of Russians tell us? After 18 months, the James Comey-Robert Mueller FBI investigation into the hacking of the DNC and John Podesta emails has yet to produce evidence of collusion.

Yet we do have evidence that a senior British spy and Trump hater, Christopher Steele, paid by the Hillary Clinton campaign and DNC to dig up dirt on Trump, colluded with Kremlin agents to produce a dossier of scurrilous and unsubstantiated charges, to destroy the candidacy of Donald Trump. And the FBI used this disinformation to get FISA Court warrants to surveil and wiretap the Trump campaign.

Why is this conspiracy and collusion with Russians less worthy of Mueller’s attention than a troll farm in St. Petersburg?

Gowdy’s excoriation marked a stunning moment at the already-tense House Judiciary Committee hearing, amid a months-long battle between congressional Republicans and the Department of Justice over its handling of both the Russia probe and Hillary Clinton email investigation.

At the hearing, Gowdy, R-S.C., spoke to frustration over the protracted Russia investigation that Rosenstein oversees, suggesting that despite a host of charges against Trump-tied figures, the investigation has not found evidence of presidential wrongdoing.

“Scott Wallace, a liberal millionaire candidate running for Congress in Pennsylvania, funded legal representation to Guantanamo Bay detainees “just after 9/11” – and has a history opposing laws that protect victims of sexual abuse, according to op-eds and interviews dating back to the 1990s.

Wallace, grandson of a former vice president who’s now running as a Democrat in Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District against Republican incumbent Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, was among key financiers who stepped up to support the Center for Constitutional Rights’ efforts to represent alleged terrorists, leading to the release of 17 men from Guantanamo Bay in 2008.

“Just after 9/11 many were afraid of the work the Center was doing,” Vince Warren, the executive director of the group, told Wallace’s alma mater’s Haverford Magazine in 2009, adding that funding the center’s work was difficult. “And yet H. Scott Wallace ’73 of the Wallace Global Fund, stepped up and helped.”
    ————————

“Wallace, who was the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ acting executive director and legislative director between 1985 and 1992, has also come out against a number of bills related to tackling sexual harassment and protecting victims of sexual abuse.

In 1990, he slammed a Supreme Court ruling that upheld laws protecting sexually abused children from having to testify face-to-face with the accused in open court and instead be allowed to testify and be cross-examined at another location.

Wallace said the decision could open the doors to false accusations and allowing other emotionally traumatized witnesses not to face the accused. “This decision increases greatly the chances of a false accusation not being discovered and increases the risk of an innocent person being convicted and sent to prison,” said Wallace, according to a 1990 Newsday article, adding that the ruling “may send a signal to experiment with other kinds of witnesses where there is a likelihood of serious emotional trauma.”
    ————————-

“Wallace went on to decry a Victims’ Rights Amendment in 1996 as a “politically appealing sop” — the measure would have ensured victims or survivors of a crime would be told about court dates of their cases, informed if the defendant is being released, paid restitution, and allowed to speak out at sentencing or parole conferences.

The amendment was endorsed by both then-Democratic President Bill Clinton as well as Bob Dole, the Republican nominee.”
