Prayer Requests 4-2-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 52

Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero?
    Why do you boast all day long,
    you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
You who practice deceit,
    your tongue plots destruction;
    it is like a sharpened razor.
You love evil rather than good,
    falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
You love every harmful word,
    you deceitful tongue!

Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
    He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent;
    he will uproot you from the land of the living.
The righteous will see and fear;
    they will laugh at you, saying,
“Here now is the man
    who did not make God his stronghold
   but trusted in his great wealth
    and grew strong by destroying others!”

But I am like an olive tree
    flourishing in the house of God;
   I trust in God’s unfailing love
    for ever and ever.
For what you have done I will always praise you
    in the presence of your faithful people.
   And I will hope in your name,
    for your name is good.

  1. Please pray for Dr. Jeff. Linda just sent this. This is an immediate need for prayer.
    We took Jeff to the ER this morning because he was light headed. He got some IV fluid which has helped a bit. He is saying he can’t do the first flight because he can’t sit up for more than a few minutes. Dr. Campbell thinks We should give it a try. It is 1pm here. We are going back to the hospital at 2 a.m. for more IV fluids then straight to the airport. Please pray we can get on the first flight and that Jeff will do all right.
    The first flight is three hours to Sydney. Then fifteen hours to Dallas. On the second flight he will be in business so he can lay down. It is the first flight that will be hard.

  2. Pray that my friend Carol can speak with a doctor today at the nursing home. They’ve had her there for a week now and have yet to start her on any kind of antibiotic (they were trying to decide which one, she was told when she checked in — she’d been in the hospital for at least a week before that, longer probably, to get antibiotic IVs for cellulitis and some other bacteria in her fistula; she’d improved much but doctors felt she needed maybe 10 more days of IV at the nursing home so that’s where she’s landed, but so far no treatment).

    They may be giving her body a rest before starting her up again — or just seeing how the cellulitis is doing first on its own — but she’s anxious to return to her residence and it seems silly to leave her just lying in that bed with no treatments for so many days running. If there’s a reason for that or they have a plan of some kind, they need to communicate that to her. I told her if the doctor doesn’t show up soon (today) that she should request that the social worker come in so she can maybe intervene to get her some information.

    Continued prayers for my friend E who is dealing with some kind of serious health issue related to her new and chronic back pain — she’s not volunteered what it is to me (which kind of hurts, but I think she’s maybe still processing whatever it is — I have told her I’m continuing to pray for her, ‘whatever’ it is). Of course, I’m imagining the worst — a cancerous spinal tumor or some such thing. For now, I have backed off asking her about it or asking if she wants to go grab breakfast or lunch on the weekends, but am still sending occasional texts just about this and that to keep the door of communication open. Sometimes she responds and we chat a bit, other times she ignores the texts and I quit when I feel like I’m talking to myself. Her car was gone yesterday so she apparently did get to church and likely spent the day with some people there. When I’ve asked before what’s going on with the health issues, she simply responds ‘The Lord has it.’

  4. Carol made it ‘home,’ apparently the doctor at the nursing home wouldn’t be able to get to her until Thursday (!) so the administrator of Carol’s facility in Hollywood had her sent back, promising to get her lined up for more antibiotic IV elsewhere if necessary.

  5. No word on Dr. Jeff, so I am hoping and praying that he is on his way to Sydney. If he continues on, he will have a fifteen hour flight after that.
