Prayer Requests 3-27-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 48

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise,
    in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

Beautiful in its loftiness,
    the joy of the whole earth,
   like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion,
    the city of the Great King.
God is in her citadels;
    he has shown himself to be her fortress.

When the kings joined forces,
    when they advanced together,
they saw her and were astounded;
    they fled in terror.
Trembling seized them there,
    pain like that of a woman in labor.
You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish
    shattered by an east wind.

As we have heard,
    so we have seen
   in the city of the Lord Almighty,
    in the city of our God:
   God makes her secure
    forever.

Within your temple, O God,
    we meditate on your unfailing love.
10 Like your name, O God,
    your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;
    your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices,
    the villages of Judah are glad
    because of your judgments.

12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
    count her towers,
13 consider well her ramparts,
    view her citadels,
   that you may tell of them
    to the next generation.

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever;
    he will be our guide even to the end.

  1. Yesterday I asked you to pray for Lee. They started a 48 hour prayer vigil for her yesterday. She had surgery at some point in the last two days. They found the cancer had spread. Yesterday she was septic, now she is in multi organ failure. Her mother was already with her, her dad and brother have flown in to Tulsa to be with her.
    They are giving her 48 hours of antibiotics and will face tougher decisions after that.
    From what she has posted on FB the last year I have no doubt of her faith and her spiritual life being in order. My heart hurts for those she will leave behind. Especially a 13 or 14 year old son.

  3. I”m praying for her KIm, but my faith is weak
    If I were in her situation, I would want them to let me go.
    in fact, those are my instructions. .

  4. Chas, probably mine too, but a mother of young children generally prefers to see them grown. (My husband lost his first wife when the girls were 12 and 14, and my sister’s five kids were 14 or 15 and younger, so it doesn’t always happen that way, but it really is “different” when minor children are involved.)

  5. Prayers for wisdom for her and her family. Prayers for you, Kim. It is difficult to watch those you care about facing these things.

    One of the men, who plays music with my husband, has a daughter who is losing her fight against her cancer. She has grown children. She has gone through a lot and is now facing a last desperate surgery possibly. He lost his wife to the same disease and thinks this is the end. Her name is Monica.

  6. My sister just got back with her children from a three-week vacation touring the west (Grand Canyon, Zion, and more). She and her late husband had plans to do a western trip and an eastern trip, but really never had the money to do it. Well, her oldest is 19 and she realized it is pretty much now or never if he will come with them. (She figured she can do the eastern trip in a couple more years, but he probably won’t be with them for that one.) They thoroughly enjoyed it.

    On a totally different note, she found out 2,000 miles into her trip that an acquaintance from church had killed herself, leaving behind three children ten and under. The father travels full time and hardly ever comes home; I guess he has been gone for four months now. So these children don’t really have any parents at all, and I don’t know what will happen to them. I don’t know if the father is home with them now; I didn’t think to ask. (It was at the end of catching each other up on what has been a full three weeks for both of us.) Anyway, I know that family needs prayer. In the middle of the night, 4:00 in the morning or so, the ten-year-old called his grandparents and told them his mom was missing and so was the gun, so he would have figured out what happened.

  7. From Lee’s cousin:
    Update to previous about Lee: Dr. has decided, because her vital signs are doing so well, to try to remove some of the cancer tomorrow. It will be a very extensive surgery – not quick like yesterday. Please pray for her.

  8. Latest from another of Lee’s cousins:

    Here is the best I can do with an update on Lee Burt Benbow.

    She is VERY VERY sick. Yes her numbers are doing better but every organ has been attacked by the cancer and become extremely aggressive over the last 2 weeks since the last PET scan.

    They have taken her off all the Bi-Carb meds , off all the blood pressure medicines, and they are adding some calories via proteins.

    They have started pain meds for pain management due to the fact she is going back into surgery at 7:30am tomorrow. Dr. Prague just left. Where we were originally told that he was going to try and take out the tumor, he let us know that it is NOT just a tumor like we think of like a ball, it is more like mold growing in a room that has been flooded. So at this point the goal is to check to see if there is a hole in her gut (small intestines) that is causing the infection that made her Sepsis. He also thought about doing the chemo hot wash while they had her open but after talking to all her colleges throughout the nation, with her white blood cells so low that is NOT an option because it could cause a major infection again.

    His goal is to get her awake, take breathing tube out, and Dr. Prague wants to talk with her to see where she is. Sepsis can infect the brain and cause damage and the only way they can know IF is has affected her is to talk with her.

    As her numbers and looking very very hopeful, I will not flower this up, she is extremely sick. After the surgery tomorrow will be a big tell all. Dr. Prague said that he is not even going to discuss any further treatment until Lee can WALK into his office and TALK to him in about 8 weeks from leaving the hospital. And then IF she wants to try one more time, the “chemo” doctor will have to say yes or no.

    So as you all can see, Lee is extremely sick. She needs many many many prayers. I wish that I could do this travel for Lee but it is not God’s Will. I do not know why God has chosen her, I do not know why God lets these things happen. I do not know why about many things. But I do KNOW my God is Merciful and Almighty. My God is FULL of compassion and love. My God is wonderful and can do anything He wants. And I know that my God will give each and everyone of us that loves and knows Lee many blessings just through whatever connection we have to her.

    Please continue to pray for her, David (her son), Tomi and James (her parents) and Jimmy and Jodi (her brother and sister-in-law) and her two nieces. They need much prayer to be able to accept God’s Will in whatever He chooses. They are a God fearing and loving family.

    Please fill free to share this on your pages and if you have questions I am more than willing to try and answer them in a pm as best as I can.

  9. My daughter-in-law from San Francisco called about 45 minutes ago. Baby does NOT have a hole in her heart. The problem is the placenta.

    There isn’t good enough blood flow between the placenta and the heart, baby is still measuring small at 26 weeks. They’re sending A to the children’s hospital, more specialists and monitoring with a possible C-section later tonight if the doctors determine the baby is in more danger in than out.

    I’m fine and reporter detached until that last sentence.

    Please pray. God answered my big prayer about the hole in the heart. Let’s ask Him for another one. Thank you.

  10. Prayers for all the situations that seem so desperate. I feel sad about so much tragedy that involves loss of parents or beloved grandparents. Prayers for God’s unique peace to overcome the emotional as well as physical pains. We see a lot of brokenness at times in our office but I am not free to share.
