  1. Happy Memo Day!

    https://ca.news.yahoo.com/republican-memo-likely-released-thursday-white-house-official-015841979.html

” A Republican memo alleging anti-Trump bias at the FBI and U.S. Justice department is likely to be released on Thursday, an official of President Donald Trumps administration said on Wednesday.”

So it’s Panic at the Disco time.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-russia-memo/fbi-expresses-grave-concerns-over-republican-memos-accuracy-idUSKBN1FK25P

“A White House official said the four-page document was delivered to the White House on Monday after the Republican-dominated committee voted to release it. Administration lawyers were working against a Friday deadline to determine if any of it should be redacted to protect national security, the official said.

Late on Wednesday, Representative Adam Schiff, the intelligence committee’s ranking Democrat, said he had discovered Nunes had sent a version of the Republican memo to the White House that was “materially altered” and thus was not what was approved for release by the committee’s vote.

A spokesman for Nunes called it an “increasingly strange attempt to thwart publication,” and described the changes as minor, including two edits requested by the FBI and committee Democrats.

An aide to Schiff did not immediately respond when asked how Schiff had obtained the information.”

  2. As I was reading Bret Stephens’ article, I had a thought: If Clinton had done all this, there would not be a small group of NeverClinton Liberals opposing her and standing up for truth, honesty, intelligence, and the rule of law. There is still that tiny difference between the two parties.

  3. The power of FoxNews is amazing. All of my little old lady friends who make my coffee and biscuits at Chick-Fil-A are just sick about Gowdy retiring. I was amazed they knew about a South Carolina Congressman.

They also told me the same things I have been hearing from AJ and Tychicus about the FBI. They can look at me and tell I am conservative, so they just assume I am also in the Cult.

I have decided to remain an undercover NeverTrumper, at least around here.

  4. Ricky,

Nice try, but no. Gowdy has no issue with Trump, and would have had no problem being re-elected. I knew some Never-Trumper would suggest it eventually though. You almost had to.

  5. There is also talk that Gowdy may be planning to take one of the positions that will be opening at the DoJ/FBI once the heads start rolling. Maybe even the new AG.

He did say he was gonna pursue law enforcement work, so who knows….

  6. rw: If you have bias and bring that bias into an investigation as has been demonstrated by Strzok and Page, that is a huge problem and they should be fired.

When a Deputy FBI Director’s wife received a $700,000 campaign contribution from a surrogate fund raiser for Hillary, it would seem to be insane to actually involve yourself directly into the management of that investigation, especially when investigations are almost always conducted by field offices and not out of the FBI Headquarters.

To be a good federal investigator, it doesn’t matter if you are a Dem or Republican if your integrity is not compromised. So far. it appears everyone named in the Hillary investigation was absent of any integrity. When Comey testified before Congress, he said he had made the decision to exonerate Hillary after her interview, and that he had not discussed it with anyone prior to delivering his decision not to recommend prosecution. There were at least two lies there, and the text messages between Strzok and Page prove them both. The exoneration memo was written over a month before Hillary was even interviewed, and Strzok contributed to it by changing the language (by removing Obama’s name re. an email and also changing “Gross Negligence” to “Extremely Careless”). Both those lies constitute a felony.

Then there’s this, and the key figure is the guy who you claim will eventually receive a Presidential or Congressional medal:

All this just for starters, yet you believe the FBI can do no wrong?

Wait and see what the DOJ Inspector General’s report has to say… I think you are going to see the greatest and most dangerous violations of civil liberties in our nation’s history. The contents of the affidavit supporting the application for a FISA warrant is going to be very interesting, and will most likely result in several more people losing their jobs and possibly their freedom. Watergate is going to look like an ice cream social.

“President Donald Trump has approved the release of a classified memo compiled by House Republicans on the intelligence committee, clearing the way for its release Friday, multiple outlets report.”

Nope. No bias or cover-up here….

Quick! Someone remind me how he was hand picked by Trump….. as if that spares him.

“Text messages between two FBI officials reveal that former FBI Director Andrew McCabe waited at least a month before informing Congress or then-FBI Director James Comey about newly found emails in the Hillary Clinton email investigation during the fall of 2016.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that it had obtained text messages between FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page that showed McCabe knew of thousands of new emails pertaining to the private email server Clinton used at the State Department on or before Sept. 28, 2016 — a month before Comey informed Congress about the emails on Oct. 28.

McCabe’s apparent inaction on the emails, which were found on the laptop of disgraced New York Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) during his sex crimes investigation, is the subject of an FBI inspector general investigation, which seeks to discover whether McCabe withheld the information from the public for political reasons.

The text message in question was sent by controversial FBI agent Peter Strzok, who was removed from the investigation into Russia’s election meddling after it was revealed he had sent texts allegedly revealing political bias against the president.

“Got called up to Andy’s earlier,” Strzok wrote in a Sept. 28 text, which continued: “hundreds of thousands of emails turned over by Weiner’s atty to sdny, includes a ton of material from spouse. Sending team up tomorrow to review … this will never end ….”

  8. Well, Yoga definitely wasn’t “invented” in the United States. Williamson’s tweet and the original Matt Walsh tweet Williamson was replying to could both use a bit of nuancing.

  9. Be fair, SolarP. If Trumpers can believe in coups and secret societies, West Texas conservatives (like Williamson and me) can believe that yoga was invented by weirdos from New England or the West Coast. I think this particular fact was confirmed by Hank Hill in one of the earlier episodes of King of the Hill. Hank also taught us that soccer was a game invented by French women so they would have something to do while their husbands cooked supper.

  11. Oh my…..

Sending classified info over an unsecure sources with the intent of attempting to avoid oversight and record keeping.

How could they find Hillary guilty for it, when they were committing the same violations?

    https://saraacarter.com/new-strzok-page-emails-discuss-evasion-message-archiving/

“Newly released text messages between a pair of FBI anti-Trump officials at the center of the Russia investigation controversy show that they sought to “get around” rules established by the government to preserve text messages, stating that none of the agencies abide by the rules then “why should we.”

Former FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page discussed getting new Apple iPhones, in lieu of their Samsung 5 government issued phones in text messages they exchanged in August 2016. They noted in the texts that the new phones would help keep their text messages from government collection after speaking with the FBI’s IT director, according to newly released August 2016 text messages.

“According to text messages produced by the committee, Ms. Page and Mr. Strzok make references to communicating with other FBI employees via text message, phone call, email, and voice mail,” stated Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson, in a letter dated Jan. 31, to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. “Additional text messages suggest that FBI officials used non-official email accounts and messaging programs to communicate about official business.””

  12. Ricky @ 7:58 “What if Clinton had done all this?” That’s rich. Most of the questions Bret Stephens asks would never be asked of Hillary if she were president. We know this because Clinton pretty much did do all of these things and worse—for many years. From her ‘pay to play’ foundation that netted her millions of foreign dollars for purely political activities—to incompetence that cost civil servants their lives in Libya—- to a long-standing pattern of gross negligence in handling classified material—- to having her husband meet with DOJ on the tarmac to stamp her get out of jail free card. If Clinton were president there would be no special counsel because Comey wouldn’t have leaked classified material giving her enemies political cover so they could appoint one.

Hillary escaped investigation and prosecution and was never held accountable for many egregious behaviors. But in the end, Democratic voters demonstrated that corruption does matter. Although they aren’t called ‘never-Hillarys’, there is a substantial segment of Democratic voters who voted for Trump or for a third party because they would not support Hillary’s corruption. Many of these were Sanders supporters who keenly felt the sting of betrayal. This segment of voter still has not been wooed back into the Democratic fold. That’s one reason the outcome of midterms and 2020 is still so much in doubt.

  13. One of the disheartening things about the last couple of years is that Trump has intimidated a number of people whom I used to respect and each of these men wimped out and bowed the knee. Cruz, Romney, Pence, Ryan and others fall into this category.

    Comey does not wimp out!

I am thinking about making Comey an Honorary Southerner.

  14. Oh brother. At least make him a Texan—like Bush who ended up supporting Hillary. But I’m thinking an honorary Redcoat would be more appropriate. He wouldn’t be the first American leader to get his ego bruised and betray his country and his duty. ;–)

  17. No. We are all “birthers”. There is only one way you get to be a Texan. I have teased my wife whose birth certificate lists her race as “Mexican” but shows her birthplace as Loraine, Texas. She doesn’t like my contention that her birth certificate is ambiguous.
