Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
    to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

  1. Yes–did not mean to leave you hanging, but have been a little busy. Our Clara Rose has arrived; all 9 lbs. 1 oz. of her. She was her mommy’s biggest at birth. Last evening, after her first bath (which was delayed to let her big sis help) she was wide awake. She mostly slept all afternoon through all the visitors.

    As a woman who went through all C-sections (and the first one after labor) I am simply blown away how good some women look after birth! DG looked wonderful and wanted company. So different from my experiences.

    I am also now relieved of jury duty. I was not looking forward to the almost four hour drive home, should I have been required to report today. It was interesting to watch a voir dire questioning of jurors for a criminal trial. I was not picked to be questioned, however.

    The worst part of jury duty for me was spending hours doing absolutely nothing. I thought it was cruel and unusual punishment. 😉 I can only imagine the youngest generation among us going that long without phone or anything else.

  3. Hubby had the procedure this morning to take a look inside his bladder. The doctor called me to tell me that the bleeding was caused by the prostate tumor irritating the bladder, which was what was suspected quite a while ago, but the this same procedure, to determine that, had been cancelled out of concern for him going under anesthesia post-stroke.

    After determining the cause, the area was cauterized. Next will be the removal of the catheter (not sure when they’re gonna do that), & making sure he can urinate on his own.

    Please pray that this cauterization stops the bleeding, & that he will be able to urinate on his own after removal of the catheter. Thank you.

  4. Another prayer request: Please pray for Little Guy. I believe he is still dealing with some emotional disturbance. He is fine the majority of the time, but there are times – like last night – when he is very much not fine. His behavior can even be disturbing with the physicality of it.

    Last night was bad (I don’t want to go into details), & I feel kind of sick about it this morning. When he settled down, he was his sweet self again, but doesn’t erase what came before.

    This Mimi’s heart is aching for her dear boy. He & his Mommy (& his dad, too) need God.

  5. whew, good news and husband, Karen, now on to recovery at home, hopefully!

    congrats on the new grand baby 🙂 Kathaleena.

    Last time I had jury duty (maybe 2 years ago?) it was in the brand new courthouse that had just been built and opened across the harbor. All steel and glass. And the jury room was completely plug-in friendly, they even had computers you could use. In my case, I’d brought my work laptop as I still had to file a story for work that day.

    We were never even called onto a panel all day and were dismissed before 4 p.m. But yes, even if you have a computer or book it can a dreadful time of just being “stuck.”

    I just received another jury notice so will have to go through it again on Oct. 16.

  6. It must have been the moon; we got a new baby outlaw last night. (My daughter-in-law’s niece).

    Off for the first Bible study of the fall where we actually study the Bible and not simply take pop quizzes!

  11. I was only selected for a jury once, sort of–as one of two alternates. It was a murder case and the judge told us it wouldn’t last longer than three days (he was right), so I wanted to be on it, and being an alternate was the next best thing. Another time I was called, got to the “questions” part of it. The judge had said nothing about the length of the trial, it was an asbestos case for a man who had worked with asbestos-containing material decades before (which means to me there wasn’t a real case), and I had editor’s conference in about two days. So I let it be known that I was a skeptic, and that in fact a brother of mine had used skepticism about asbestos issues as a story line in one of his books, and they let me go. (I’m not a skeptic that asbestos can cause problems–I don’t know one way or another–but going back decades to “he used to work with this product decades ago, and now he died, and so now we sue the company for which he worked” is just not the way I want to use my time.)

    I’ve never even been into a jury room anywhere other than Chicago, though I have lived as an adult in three other cities (four years post age eighteen in the Phoenix area, eight in Nashville, nearly six here).
