Prayer Requests 8-5-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 150

Praise the Lord.

   Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
    praise him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

   Praise the Lord.

  1. Because I know so many battling cancer right now, including our own KBells.

    Bless, O God,
    all who struggle with cancer.
    Empower them with hope
    for each and every day.
    Provide them with loving
    and tender care, laughter,
    and the support of love.
    Grant them
    courage when they are afraid,
comfort when they are in pain,
    and your blessing
    when all else seems hopeless,
that in their fight with illness
they may continue to praise you
    and glorify your name.
    Amen.

  2. I was doing pretty well these past few days, but today I’m sick and I don’t know with what. I have that drowsy, foggy feeling that one gets with a high fever, but I have no fever. I feel weak and achy, but I don’t have a sore throat or upset stomach or any other of the symptoms of either influenza or gastroenteritis. My breathing is being affected, but not to the point of needing medical attention for it. Strange…

  3. Continued prayer for Carol who remains in isolation now for ringworm. 😦 And after finally getting her phone up and running last week following a month again without it, Metro PCS tells her she owes them $50 more because she’d switched her plan to a cheaper one and that’s the charge for processing the change. So now her phone will be cut off again unless she gets that figured out — doesn’t sound very fair to me and the man from her Lutheran church who bought the phone for her apparently is trying to see what he can work out with the company.

And prayers for Leah, a 12-year-old girl from our community whom I’ve been writing about — she was diagnosed in May with a very rare, life-threatening heart condition (out of the blue) and has been in LA Children’s Hospital ever since, her only hope was finding a match for a heart transplant. That finally came through last week and the transplant surgery went well, but the recovery is no easy task. Her weight is down to 35 (!) pounds and she’s in quite a bit of pain. The medications also have made her “grumpy” (as did the fact that she thought she could finally “go home” after the surgery, only to find out there’s still a long road ahead in that hospital).

The family are believers, they attend our local ‘mega’ evangelical church, and the community has rallied to raise quite a bit of money toward the extraordinary medical costs the family is having to bear.

Pray for her comfort, recovery and a positive long-term outlook. She’s been through so much, poor kiddo.

The gofundme page is “Heart for Leah” for anyone interested in updates. The hospital and family are trying to arrange a followup story that would include our going there, but for now she’s very vulnerable to infections and diseases as her immune system is so low — so that won’t happen for a while, most likely. She also was set for a visit from Jennifer Aniston (via Make a Wish Foundation) but that was arranged right when the heart became available so has been put on hold. The heart, of course, was a much better “wish” that came true.

The family is always asking mostly for everyone’s prayers.

  5. I think Nightingale may be getting interested in a new man in her life. I don’t know who he is, but she went out the other night for a while after Little Guy was asleep, & when I asked her, the next day, where she went, she blushed a bit & said, “Don’t worry about it,” with a smile.

Praying for God to protect her heart from falling for the wrong man.

  6. I thought I would check in here before heading to bed and there is much to bring before the Father….not going to bed quite yet…
I love you all and you are very dear to me. More importantly you are cherished by the One who has known you and loved you more than I could possibly fathom. How deep is the Father’s love for us! We are reminded not to lean on our own understanding but to trust Him in all our ways…therefore I stand trusting Him with all the matters before us. He is good and worthy to be praised…
……….I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help……….
……….My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth……….

Good night…..find comfort in His care over thee…..rest in the knowing……..

  7. I checked on my monkey this morning. She says it came from eating Mexican food. Well if that is so the root cause was smoking marijuana because she had her gall bladder removed. She did get up at 7 this morning to get dressed and be at work by 9.

  8. Prayers for all of you dear people.

This man, Edward Schmidt, needs prayers — he lost his wife and all of his children, including the one unborn, in a horrific car accident. http://www.hackfuneralhome.com/notices/LindseyKalebWestonOwen-Schmidt

    I can’t imagine . . .

Please also pray for Lindsey’s parents and siblings. Lindsey was one of six children, only 29 years old, and I see from the obituary that two of her siblings have already preceded her in death.

Prayers are in order, too, for the truck driver who struck Lindsey’s vehicle. (She and her children were on the way to VBS at the time.)

  9. 6 arrows, I have already prayed for that family, too. (And will again!) I almost posted about it here, but have so many requests that I hesitated. I cannot imagine the pain.

    Prayers for all.

  10. We had another very sad case around here: An elderly man with dementia and his wife (who had physical issues) were missing for a week. He drove, because she could not. Their bodies were discovered at last with no foul play suspected. It was heartbreaking to see their son in anguish. I used to so worry about this with my mom. She no longer drives. It is so difficult to know when to just take the keys away. The son had built them a home next to his, but they were independent otherwise it seems.
