Kentucky Could Be The First Abortion Free-State By 2018
In the past six months, it has become clear that the battle for the first abortion-free state is going to be fought this year in Kentucky….
…Seven states, right now, have only one abortion facility: North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Mississippi, Wyoming, West Virginia—and Kentucky. Activists on both sides of the abortion issue have had their eye on these states for some time, knowing full well that if one of them succeeds in shutting down its last abortionist, the national impact would be enormous.

The reason is mostly a matter of Kentucky’s last two election cycles. In 2015 Matt Bevin was elected governor. Bevin is a strong social conservative with four adopted children in his family of 11, and no hesitation about describing himself as “unapologetically pro-life.” Last year swept in a Republican majority in the state legislature; in the first week of their session (usually used for organizational purposes), it jumped to pass a 20-week abortion ban and an ultrasound requirement….
This article makes the same point I was making the other day, only better. Kelly seems like a good man and already very productive. Still, the over representation of the military makes many people uncomfortable. Of course, it is the Trump White House, so maybe we’ll just have to get used to that uneasy feeling. :–/
The predominance of former military men in Trump’s inner circle is a threat to our national security.
When President Trump picked John Kelly, the retired four-star Marine general who had been leading the Department of Homeland Security, as his new chief of staff, most people were relieved.
This is no accident. Poll after poll reveals that the military is essentially the only institution that Americans still trust. Consider the alternatives: politicians, party hacks, lawyers, big-shot CEOs, labor leaders, and finance executives are all immediately derided, even when we know nothing about them personally. Appointing any one of them would be a political risk. Only generals, despite the outcomes of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, still seem to merit the goodwill of the American people.
This is a testament to the continuing strength of American patriotism. It is also a good thing: We need civilians to have confidence in the military. But what if placing so many generals in positions of political leadership could endanger that trust? And how many generals in the situation room are too many? Answering these questions will reveal why the appointment of General Kelly, even though he may be qualified and seems intent on bringing order to the West Wing, is bad for our national security….
It’s nice to think some people have experience with being disciplined and answering to an authority . . . especially one that has a prescribed rule of conduct. You are only allowed to obey an order as is found in the military regs and as such, can disobey a command that is not applicable or found in the, in this case, Constitution!
I almost feel sorry for the Mooch — he sells his hedge fund, his wife sues for divorce, and he misses the birth of his son; all in an attempt to curry favour with his new boss. Then he’s fired.

It’s nice to think some people have experience with being disciplined and answering to an authority . . . especially one that has a prescribed rule of conduct. You are only allowed to obey an order as is found in the military regs and as such, can disobey a command that is not applicable or found in the, in this case, Constitution!
