What a nice photo and obviously nice place to be. I love the serenity that being near the water brings me. The waves seem to want to relieve me of all of my problems, cares, and worries. I come back better from it. I am glad you had that time Michelle. My current “happy place” seems to be my friend’s cottage on the Bay.
Beautiful hues in the header. Oh to wake up to something like that.
Good morning, Chas, AJ, Linda, all who will be arriving.
Busy day today — I’ll leave you to your conversations for the day while I take care of business here. I spent a lot of time yesterday preparing a new educational plan for 5th & 6th Arrows, and today we hop to it.
And there’s always home maintenance, which never ends, of course. When the septic people show up to begin work on that (don’t know how many days, weeks or months till that happens), they will have to be in our basement for a while, my husband tells me, and it’s a perpetual disaster down there in too many places because of too much stuff that got bought or given to us. We try to organize down there a little every day, and Thursdays it is our big clean-up day for that area of the house. Hoping discarded items don’t get fished out of the throw-away pile…
And I’ve got to figure out what to do about the problem with my student’s competition piece that I described in my last post last night. I feel entirely responsible for the mess she’s in. I sat down and cried last night over it, but today I’m over those emotions — just feeling a very strong urge to do something proactive. Pray for wisdom for me? I’m afraid any solution I come up with will be messy.
Blessings on your day, everybody. Thanks always for your prayers.
I love to read what Sean of the South writes. He doesn’t pepper it with a few curse words but the message is good. Enjoy this one: (I didn’t post the whole thing, you will have to click the link) http://seandietrich.com/love-birds/
When they stand to leave, he holds her arm. They shuffle outside. I see them through the window. It’s an ordeal fitting Old Blue Eyes into the front seat. She buckles him in.
MY!
Everyone in the world seems to have hit it at one time. Notice that no one was here at 7:49 and I made a short note and when I posted it I couldn’t fine Linda’s post I was talking about.
Morning ya’ll….we had the most lovely rainy afternoon and evening here and the heady scent of pine in this forest is absolutely divine!! That photo up there is so peaceful and calm… ❤
Interesting five questions. I was always anticipating the final question.
Why?
He came close to it on the last one, “What does it matter?” But nothing is as good as simply.
“Why?”
I was always asking that.
My dad would answer, “Because I said so.” It wasn’t good enough for me. But it had to do. I discovered that throughout life, it’s all you have to go on.
“Because that’s the way it is.”
Upon watching that video this is what comes to my mind….John 15:5 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
It does not originate in that of ourselves…without Him…we are nothing…..
NancyJ.
I once preached a sermon on the ultimate question. From Matt. 27:22 “What shall I do with Jesus?”
Everyone has to answer that question someday.
The jihadist who is wearing a suicide vest has already answered and like millions of others, faces the consequences of his answer.
Same as millions of others.
Good morning.
Now for something different in music. These are some (plus more) of the Pakistani musicians who had music taken away from their lives by Taliban and Sharia based on the movie we watched, Song of Lahore.
I hear a frantic hawk calling out in our neighborhood this morning. Poor guy! I wish I knew what to do to help. Oh, now I hear another answering. I was wondering if it might be a young one being harassed by crows for the first time.
Last night Art and I watched Queen of Katwe which is based on the true story of a girl and siblings from the slum area in Uganda who attended a children’s Pioneer Club and became chess champions. So Art and I made it to Uganda and Russia all in one movie produced by Disney. The Christian faith plays strong in this movie.
I know we aren’t supposed to rant on Thursdays.
But have you noticed that “World” has started writing it’s text is such small letters?
I can hardly read it even with a magnifying glass.
Trying to save paper maybe.
Again, I apologize for not being very active on the prayer thread. With the new groups I belong to here on the home front, the prayer needs have escalated. We have a detailed list with the ladies’ small group, the church merger, my WMU group, and also the inmates that I review Bible lessons for. And I put a few prayers for people out on social media. I still have not figured out how to juggle to cover all the needs in an in depth way.
I’m up earlier today, at least there was no dog mess to clean up. I’m convinced it’s when Tess manages to raid the cat’s food that that happens. 😦
I transferred all the towels into the newly cleaned- and cleared-out hall closet last night. Now I have an empty bookcase in the hallway I can use again. Slowly, slowly … it’s coming …
I dreamed the foundation guys bailed and Real Estate Guy tells me not to worry, the two of us can do this work ourselves, it just requires a little crawling around under the house for a few weeks … He would supervise, I’d crawl. Ha.
I love it! Jazz in a Pakistani accent. It also demonstrates what I was saying the other week about the effortless integration of stringed instruments – not just the guitar and strings, but also the sitar, which greatly influenced the techniques of Western heavy metal guitarists – between cultures and the fascinating rhythmic techniques of that musical tradition. Here is a more traditional or classical use of the sitar and percussion, from the daughter of a very famous sitar player, who is a great musician in her own right:
RKessler- We have to change our plans. We’ll be going to Carlsbad on the way out to Arizona instead of on the return trip. So does Monday 7/31 or Tuesday 8/1 work for you? Here is an email address you can use that I have for non-family use: pa_ma_hare at yahoo dot com. I can’t remember where your email address went, so this will have to do.
NancyJ- That means we’ll be passing through your area on 8/11. I didn’t realize you were so close to our path to Denver. Use the above address to contact me.
We have a curious mid-year congregational meeting scheduled for later this month. We never have mid-year meetings. Sounds like it’s on a particular topic that wasn’t named.
I’m guessing either staff changes (most likely as we have an opening) or another church facility possibility (despite our remodel a couple years ago on the very expensive rental space we’ve had for 20 years, we continue to look for something to purchase or perhaps a church building to share/lease).
Three returns to get back to Amazon today — extra clothes hangers (I ordered 1 box too many), T-shirts that arrived in both the wrong size & wrong color, and a set of sheets that I later found for $5 on the Amazon Prime day (I’d paid $36 for them just a few days earlier).
And ‘Liz keeps answering “That’s your phone. Again.”
It’s made like 3 different sounds already. I have no idea which are for which notification yet. I know one is for emails because I synched my phone to my email. I’ll figure it out. Eventually.
We had to off a rattler in the backyard yesterday. We did not have to but there was no point in toting him off to some other folks’ backyard. Don’t tell Jo.
I checked my list, and you weren’t on it. Well you were, but I had no date. (I’ve noted it now) But then I searched the archives and discovered it was in fact your B’day. Sorry for nearly missing it.
Popping in with a quick thank you for all who prayed as I composed my letter of recommendation on behalf of the student I mentioned. And thank you to Michelle for your tips to me on yesterday’s prayer thread. Letter’s done and mailed — a good feeling to have that finished!
And Happy Birthday to NancyJill, I see! Enjoy your day and the numerous treats I see on this thread. 🙂
Happy birthday, Nancyjill! !!! Wishing you a year filled with blessings.
PeterL, 7/31 and 8/1both work for me. I have a week of work on both sides, so that works perfectly. You may Contact me at rkessler65@gmail.com . Will send my phone later.
If anyone is interested, I’m going to try a Facebook live on my page at 3 o’clock, Pacific. Have no idea what I’m doing, but I will sing happy birthday to Biddy! Lol
Thank you all and oh what a lovely cake…sharing it with Wesley!! 🙂 Happy Birthday to him…and Biddy!!!
I just scrolled back up and saw that Peter. I will email you my contact info and I do believe that date will work out wonderfully!
Jo I will message you…I do not know a lot about Denver…I know a bit more about Castle Rock…my favorite local restaurant in CR does not open for lunch on Saturdays so that would leave a place on the west side of I25 around the outlets….let me do some searching to see if there is a better meet up place north…
Not too long ago, I mentioned the blue “onion” dome of the old Colt Armory in Hartford. Here is a brief, interesting article about the village he built for his employees.
I often read individual articles from the World magazine issues that are posted on their main menu page, along with their web posts. The web pages for the magazine articles look slightly different in format than the web posts.

Teasing all in good fun…it is perfectly fine and thank you for your kind regards….I did get 54 which is the year I was born just in case 🙂 I have heard of some pushing and shoving around here for certain numbers but I won’t mention any names…..
