It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Psalm 85

1 You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people
    and covered all their sins.
3 You set aside all your wrath
    and turned from your fierce anger.

4 Restore us again, God our Savior,
    and put away your displeasure toward us.
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
    that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your unfailing love, Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.

8 I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—
    but let them not turn to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
    that his glory may dwell in our land.

10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 The Lord will indeed give what is good,
    and our land will yield its harvest.
13 Righteousness goes before him
    and prepares the way for his steps.

  1. Please remember L in your prayers. We are all thankful she was able to go home yesterday.
    The conference call came yesterday. The offer wasn’t what I was lead to believe it would be. I am a little overwhelmed at what all they will be wanting me to do. I don’t have a Florida license yet, I don’t know their contracts yet, I have to get fingerprinted, and a background check AND they want to roll all of this out on June 16th. Then I am going to have to have a conversation with Guy. As you can imagine I spent half the night awake talking to God about what to do. So far He hasn’t said, “Kim, thou shalt….”

  3. That should be but. My laptop has apparently died and I’m stuck with the IPad.

    My husband starts flying home soon. He crosses the dateline so he shou,d be back at SFO before now. Lol. 🙂

  5. Yesterday I asked prayer for Hubby & mentioned financial stresses. I also said that our home equity line of credit (HELOC) has expired, so the balance will be turned into a regular loan, with a larger monthly payment.

    That isn’t as simple as it should be, unfortunately. They need to send out an appraiser to appraise the house inside & out. I don’t understand why they have to do that, since it is already a set amount we owe. The cost for the appraiser & lawyer’s fees (why?) will be $780.

    Hubby is feeling very low about all this. Our budget is tight enough already. And now he is beating himself up about getting the HELOC in the first place.

    Please pray for him, & for our situation (particularly that the monthly payment will not be too high). I’ve also been praying favor for Hubby, although I’m not sure how that can apply here.

    And let’s pray that 6 Arrows’ pain is lessened enough that she can enjoy the wedding & reception. Also, that Kbells’ sciatica will finally calm down (& go away!), so she can enjoy the conference she has to attend.

  7. Mr. P wants me away from Guy before he loses his temper and punches him (Guy).
    I am 99% certain I am taking the job. I am just a little overwhelmed with all I need to get done in what really is a short amount of time and June is going to be financially tight, but we have both been there before. Now we only have ourselves, two dogs, and a cat to worry about.

  8. So easy to be overwhelmed looking forward. Think of all those other times you felt that way, Kim. Then think of all the times you wondered why you were worried. You can do whatever you need to do.

  10. I just found out that if we give three days notice we won’t lose anything on the hotel. I will probably not get much back on my fee. I have a decision to make. Is it alright to ask God for a sign?

  16. Nightingale has been splitting certain expenses with us (electricity, water, something else), & has offered to pay part of the loan payment.

  18. Kizzie, I admit I rather assumed she was paying rent by now. She certainly should be, especially since you do actually need the money. And she does pay you a little something for babysitting (even if it’s just a couple dollars an hour), right?

  20. Kizzie, 9:24, and all praying, thank you. I really need those prayers again today, and I’ll just leave it at that, except to say I’m picking up some oil of oregano (and other things I hope will help) between the wedding and the shower.

    Please pray for the spiritual warfare going on at work. We have been inundated with psychs, every shift
    Lots of drugs and alcohol abuse. We had a little native the other night who was obviously being tormented by demons. Spent much time at her bedside praying.

  28. Nightingale doesn’t pay a set rent per se, but helps out with various bills, & often buys things for us. She also takes care of most of the yard work, for which we are very grateful. Even though she works a few days a week, often even four or five, there are other weeks when she only gets a couple days. It has evened out to be about 2/3 of what full-time would be. And she still has her student loan to pay off, as well as other bills.

    But yes, she is willing to help out more. She is “a good kid,” as DJ said. 🙂 And she is quite conscientious about helping & contributing. As I said above, when I told her about the loan, she offered to pay part of it.

    Kizzie, the good thing about having a set rent is that it’s easier to budget (IMO) when you know how much will be coming in. And one benefit for Nightingale is that she’ll know how much needs to be going out toward that. Set rates are often much easier for all parties to deal with than variable rates based on changing circumstances.

    There were a number of years when 1st Arrow was living at home after becoming an adult that my husband did not want to charge him rent, for the very reasons you mention: he occasionally helped out with bills, bought stuff for us, worked around the home. But there can be (and sometimes were) problems that way, too, associated with the frequency and timing and amount of financial assistance that could never be predicted. Confusion and resentment can follow. I won’t go into all the details, but having a stated plan and sticking to it often prevents misunderstandings from occurring. And it doesn’t stop diligent workers, like I’m sure your Nightingale is, from volunteering to go above and beyond your stated expectations for rent.

    My two cents, which isn’t enough to pay anyone’s rent, but there you go. 😉

  30. Sitting in a chair eating bonbons while reading a book did not pan out. But that is okay, I have gotten a lot done. Worked on the fish pond for a while, weed eated my rose garden, did school work with nearly eleven year old, made homemade pizza, set out another hatching of turkeys, and talked with eighteen year old for a bit. Another day bonbons and a book will win. Thanks for praying and lifting me up. God is wonderful in the ways He works to help us follow Him.

  33. OK. So I have worked on my Florida license today with an online course because Guy went fishing and I have answered the phone and have done everything he needed done.
    The course was broken into 3 sections. I need to pass each section with a 75%. First section I got 70% twice, then I figured it out and got a 90%. Second section was on condo law so I got a 90% first time. Third section was on commercial real estate and placing liens for commissions which is something I never have heard of doing so I got an 80% on it. Now I have to take the final exam, but I think I will go back through everything tomorrow and make sure I know everything before I take the final…which I will have to pass the first time before I go take the real exam.
    The person recruiting me has a friend who runs a Florida Licensing School and he is going to send me a “crunch test” next week. Now I have to wait until Tuesday to find out where to get fingerprinted and I will be moving right along.

  34. Kim, when you said early today that the offer wasn’t what you expected it to be, do you mean the work, the pay, or both? I hope it’s not more work than you expected for less pay than you expected.

  35. I had been lead to believe it would be a set amount per month. Now they are wanting to compensate me with a portion of the commission earned by the agents I will be training. I could take that deal in Alabama because I have been in real estate here for 13 years. In Florida I am going to be on my own learning curve. Their contracts as far as I have already dealt with them are confusing and they have a form for everything. It is possible I could go the whole summer before anyone closed anything.
    The woman who is strongly recruiting me is trying to work something out. She is getting close to my monthly pay now. We are several hundred dollars off but I could make it work THEN we could put the commission on top.
    I emailed the other woman today telling her what I currently make and then I get commission on anything I sell.
    They are working on it and promise me they will make it work.

  36. 6 Arrows – I understand what you are saying, about a set rent, & would probably go that way if it were up to me. But Hubby & Nightingale have worked things out, & she does give him a set amount for the various bills, so he can count on that for the budget.

  37. Oh, that sounds good, Kizzie.

    Thanks for praying about my day/pain. I took an ibuprofen around 1:30, and I was virtually pain-free for the 4:00 wedding and the reception after that. Pain is just starting up again now, but minimally. So thankful I could enjoy the events. Beautiful day for an outdoor wedding. The kids enjoyed the festivities, too, and it was so great to see D (the bride) again, meet her groom, and talk to her parents and another mom I know who is now retired from homeschooling after 23 years of doing that.
