Tychicus, For a long time it has really bothered and perplexed me that friends with whom I shared many values and beliefs came to such a different conclusion on factual issues regarding Trump. I felt I was trying and failing to break people out of a cult.
It finally hit me that we are obtaining our information from completely different sources. I now understand the problem goes far beyond Trump but the realization has given me a real peace about the whole situation.
Ricky, I don’t know that we are as far off as you might think on most issues. However, I’ve always been a “root for the underdog” kind of guy, and I respond as I do b/c of the overwhelming, relentless attacks on the president from people in media, academia, progressives, Republicans, even from within the admin. Such attacks are not helpful for the country. Many of Trump’s policies are actually good – certainly far better than the last guy in office. When Obama was president, I tried to stick to criticizing his policies – not attack him as a person. Do we actually want the president to succeed, or not?
You’re much more of a political animal than I am – I jump in sometimes b/c it helps me to maintain a connection to my home country. However, so much of our focus is on the political realm, when the Great Battle is actually taking place in the spiritual realm. I don’t know how you can be calling the president all those names, and still be praying for him – I certainly wouldn’t be able to do it.
I believe he was killed, most likely by the Clintons’, for releasing info to WikiLeaks. And I’ve said that since day one when I first linked his story right after his “robbery” where they took no money, last year.
It’s nice to see Hannity and Co. coming around to the same conclusion.

Your point about sources is well taken. Most of our media have discredited themselves to the extent that newer sources have been given an unprecedented opportunity. Some of those are just more entertainment.
I have a hard time imagining anyone praying to the Lord about a fellow image-bearer and calling him/her derogatory names (“Orange Buffoon,” the list of adjectives Tychicus quoted, etc.) If you are using more respectful names when referring to President Trump in your prayers, Ricky, it would be a welcome change to see those kinds of references here, too.
On both the Rich story and the Tapp Tweets the major TV networks, the major newspapers and the respected conservative media (WSJ, National Review, The Weekly Standard were in basic agreement on the facts. The Trump media disagreed with the facts agreed upon by journalists to the left and right of them.
This has been the case time after time. It has led me to be intemperate, for which I now apologize. It has led many conservative journalists to be intemperate. It has led many, many people on the left and some on the right (myself included) to question the intelligence of Trump voters and speak of a Cult.
However, what I have come to realize is that most Americans who are conservative and who are not political junkies like DJ and me are receiving much of their information from what I would call very questionable sources. Fox News is bad but is far from the worst. Trump’s election and the acceptance by many of his unorthodox behavior is a product of that phenomenon.

If you closely follow stories recently written about conditions in the White House, you will see that his own aides have used the exact same terms I have used. One of them said he needed a frontal lobotomy. I haven’t gone that far.

Why would he have sat on that during a hotly contested election, one that looked until the last minute to be queuing up Obama’s chosen successor?
None of it makes sense. That means we’re never going to stop hearing about it.
In the Seth Rich case, it seems that much of what is being reported as news is speculation at best, and some of it is deliberately false.
The Washington Post is an establishment source, as is the New York Times. So when I want to know what the movers and shakers in DC want me to think about a given topic, I cross-check with WaPo and NYT. If I’m lucky, there will be a measure of accuracy. But recently, it’s just inane….or so clouded by smoke and mirrors that only the guilty and God know the truth. I’m happy to leave those things to God.
