Prayer Requests 5-10-17

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia, and for Ajisuun as well.

And today is Kevin B’s surgery, so let’s remember to keep Kevin and his family in prayer.

Anyone else?

Psalm 66:1-7

Shout for joy to God, all the earth!
    Sing the glory of his name;
    make his praise glorious.
Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
    So great is your power
    that your enemies cringe before you.
All the earth bows down to you;
    they sing praise to you,
    they sing the praises of your name.”

Come and see what God has done,
    his awesome deeds for mankind!
He turned the sea into dry land,
    they passed through the waters on foot—
    come, let us rejoice in him.
He rules forever by his power,
    his eyes watch the nations—
    let not the rebellious rise up against him.

  1. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for another day in which to see Your goodness working overtime despite the fallen nature of human life. Thank You that we know Jesus will return, but in Your love for people You wait for more to be saved.

    I praise You today for making it possible for Kevin to have this corrective surgery for his heart. He is probably going through procedures right now or is in prep. You know every detail, Lord. Keep it all going smoothly throughout the whole day and for recovery. I pray for Your peace to settle into the waiting room so that there will be no anxious thoughts but only prayer. I pray that each person on Kevin’s team will be in top form. May they each be feeling well and fully alert. I pray that Kevin will awaken feeling cheerful and with minor effects from the anesthesia. Please strengthen him in all areas of his life. May he soon be back posting good news of his favorable experience. I pray in the holy and righteous name of Jesus. Amen

  2. Update on my prayer request from Monday: From what my second sibling says, it is more of a wait and see with getting more help. The antibiotics do not seem to be having an effect, but the man’s doctor is currently away from the office. All of us keep thinking, if only this had been discovered sooner. Right now, it is a hygienic nightmare, especially for my mother, as the man is too weak to keep himself clean. It is also making my mother fearful of having her grandchildren coming to visit. My eldest sibling and family were planning to come at the end of May, but there is no way that they can come with this ongoing problem. Even if a space was available for the man in the nursing home, he wouldn’t be taken if the infection is not under control, as it would endanger the other residents. The kind of cancer he has is lymphoma, which affects his immune cells, and I wonder if that is what is prolonging the infection. Antibiotics do not work on their own, they are there to help one’s immune system finish off the bacteria.

  3. Felix update: surgeon successfully removed “escaped ” gallstones arthroscopically. However–they were unable to remove gallbladder arthroscopically because it was gangrenous and kept falling apart…Please pray he doesn’t develop any infections. They said he will be in hospital until at least Monday.

  4. Carol’s still in the hospital, she said an infectious disease doctor was in to see her but she’s not sure why, though she does have MRSA. But they may also be concerned about something else. She’ll maybe get more information today, but she’s not good about asking questions.

  5. Woke up last night with a bad cramp in my calf – that never happens! But I was awake enough to pray for Kizzie’s husband. I usually don’t connect things like that until later.

  6. Keeping Kevin in prayer this day and trusting the Lord with his care ❤
    I am meeting with a friend in a couple hours (at her request) and would appreciate prayer covering if anyone would be led….she is high strung…I am not a close friend but have known her for many years. She cornered me at the bridal shower this past Sat and unloaded her problems on me (husband troubles). I attempted to direct her to her relationship with our Lord (she quit going to church 6 months ago and finds wine to be a comfort to her). I know how the Lord would desire me to speak with her….I just need her to be quiet long enough to hopefully hear…or at the very least listen.

  7. Kizzie: Yes–they had to remove the gallbladder surgically as it was gangrenous and full of many (doctor estimated there were 100) stones. Doctor commented to my dad that he was amazed that Felix was able to walk at all (Felix’s house is about 200 yards from my parents’) and said he is the toughest patient he’s ever had in his 30 years of practicing medicine.

  8. Please, Lord, help Nancyjill to formulate the best possible helping words that the lady needs to hear. Open the lady’s ears and heart and help her see the way to go for resolution. Please give Nancyjill diplomacy as she treads on shaky ground. May she feel respected for her wise advice and may You receive the glory for making an eternal difference in a failing relationship. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  9. My friend L just posted this on FB

    Well, I’m neutropenic still, but at least I’m getting fluids today at the cancer center. (sigh) If you see me and you’re even possibly sick, don’t touch me. #ovariancancerfun #ocdgermaphobiavibesneeded

  10. My BIL is doing well. In spite of the heart attack, there was no damage to the heart and the doctor said he had the heart of a twenty year old. He is 50 yrs over that. His wife, who was trained and worked as an RN was amazed at the sight of the tubes etc. in him. He had a quadruple bypass. In two days they would have been leaving on a vacation half way across the country. God is good!

    I do not see why taking a patient with an infection like that would endanger other patients. My mother was in a nursing home for rehab and had one. Certainly they have had other patients with such infections. They have signs warning about that and what steps everyone must take to keep it from spreading.
