Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 6

1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
    or discipline me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint;
    heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.
3 My soul is in deep anguish.
    How long, Lord, how long?

4 Turn, Lord, and deliver me;
    save me because of your unfailing love.
5 Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
    Who praises you from the grave?

6 I am worn out from my groaning.

All night long I flood my bed with weeping
    and drench my couch with tears.
7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
    they fail because of all my foes.

8 Away from me, all you who do evil,
    for the Lord has heard my weeping.
9 The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;
    the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;
    they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.

  1. Please pray for BG. It is hard to feel sympathy for someone who is hard headed and determined to do as they please, but it is also hard when Nana calls to tell you that BG has been throwing up since 5 and she is afraid she (BG) is becoming dehydrated and wants to know about going to the ER.
    BTW an endocrinologist and a gastroenterologist don’t know what they are talking about. They are prejudiced against marijauna because we live in the south and alcohol is bad for your liver. Alcoholics cause more accidents, beat their wives, and the list goes on. Weed smokers don’t do any of that because they are obviously as innocent as the driven snow. (Snark)
    She has googled all of this so SHE knows more than the doctors do.

  3. Kaitlyn is enjoying being out of the hospital, but she has lost a lot of weight and is, of course, exhausted. The chemo side effects should start hitting her tomorrow again.

    So many people have come along side her and her family. I’m so grateful she is part of the family of God. We’ve also raised over $15,000 to help cover her expenses as she is a student with no additional insurance over the provincial plan (medication is not covered, she needs to purchase food and rent, and travel for her family).

  5. Kim – Did she even try googling “marijuana vomiting”? I just did, & a bunch of articles popped up about it, even from Huffington Post. I haven’t read them all (just wanted to find them), but the Wikipedia page says this syndrome can lead to renal failure. 😦 Have her google those two words together.

  6. Oh, yeah Kizzie, but she isn’t willing to give it up. So in my book this is the very definition of addiction.
    Remember a while back when we had the discussion about red wine? I love everything about red wine (well maybe not the stains on my teeth). I love using the corkscrew to open the bottle, I love the smell, I love the pretty wine glass, I love the taste. I love the relaxation of sipping on a glass as I wind down from the day…..BUT I can’t sleep. Sleep or red wine? Tough choice. I chose sleep.
    Marijauna or vomiting? Your choice honey.

  8. Many of you know that I have always tried to take the high road with ex husband but today I can’t. BG called me and thinks she needs to go to the ER. I am waiting to get her in to our family doctor. I asked him to please come over tonight to talk to her about her health and the path she is on. He can’t tonight. His wife has boot camp and he has to pick his step grandson up.
    WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT?????????

  10. Kim, a child who has been throwing up since five might need to go to emergency. But BG has the body of an adult now. We can vomit for a couple of days – our bodies are good at maintaining fluid volume, the kidneys will simply conserve more water. That isn’t to say that adults don’t get dehydrated, but the symptoms of Norwalk virus can make one vomit for over 24 hours and not many adults need medical attention for that. One way to look for dehydration is skin turgor – pinching the skin on the back of the hand, and seeing how long it takes to return to normal. If it is instant, no dehydration – if it doesn’t go back, dehydration.
    I’m sorry that she is taking her information from the internet. I have encountered that within my own family – the younger generations are very tech savvy, but they can’t tell the difference between good and bad sources of information. It doesn’t help that the culture is growing increasingly suspicious of anyone in the ‘establishment’.

  11. Kim, you can not talk a teenager into sense. It makes her feel good at the time and it makes her feel cool around her friends. She will not give that up based on your words. But we will continue to pray for her and for you, for wisdom and patience and discernment.

  12. We have a 4 pm doctor’s appointment and I told them to have the nurse read the notes from last Wednesday’s appointments before we come in.
    Part of me has been mean. You do what you aren’t supposed to do, then you suffer. You obviously smoked pot last night so suffer today.

  18. I’d never heard of that syndrome before, pretty disturbing.

    Carol got home from the rehab last night (finally).

    Now she has to return several overdue library books (if she shows proof she’s been hospitalized, there’s no late charge thankfully — she had to borrow 2 quarters from a former roommate just to get the bus fare).

    I think she called me hoping I’d offer to either send her some money for the rest of the month or to come over this weekend to take her to the library at least. I suggested she either tell the library they’ll just have to wait until she can get there or call the church office to see if someone might be available to pick her up and take her to the library, which is less than a mile away. It’s a quick trip and most churches provide that kind of service ministry for errands when people can’t get around well on their own.

    But at least she’s home and out of rehab and the hospital.

  19. I hate vomiting enough that I’ll avoid things I enjoy if that might be the result. She’s a teenager . . . might be worth pointing out that frequent vomiting erodes the enamel from your teeth and makes them ugly. (A friend of mine had extreme vomiting during two-and-a-half of her pregnancies, and lost most of her tooth enamel; I’m not making this one up.) Or is she past the stage where vanity might have an effect?

  20. Here is the latest report from Sarah the Missionary:

    Thank you for celebrating God’s little miracle to us – Daniel Bryant Spann.
    David and I are already so in love with him.

    The last few days have been very emotional for us – as have the last few months…but particularly the last few days. We are emotionally so full.

    Daniel is making small improvements, but we have a long road ahead of us. He has an army of doctors and nurses taking care of him.
    I feel sad that I can’t help our little boy, but he is receiving the best possible care.
    And, we know that our God loves and cares for Him perfectly….even though we feel helpless.

    We long for the day when we can hold our son and take him home, but he will be in the NICU for awhile.
    Please pray:
    – For wisdom as the doctors make decisions for our son.
    – That his lungs and other organs would grow strong and healthy. (As David shared, he has a tube in his lung now which has been a huge success.)
    – Unlike some other preemie situations, Daniel lived in utero with around 1 cm of fluid for a LONG time – that can have some serious side effects. Even though he made it to 30 weeks, his lungs have the maturity of about a 25 week old baby. But, the machines he is on are helping him to grow strong. Pray that he continues to respond well to these treatments and makes small improvements every day.
    – For my recovery.
    – Against fear.

    David and I are so tired.
    Every time the phone rings, I feel a little fear tug at my heart that something might be wrong with our Daniel. Things change in the NICU so quickly. Please pray that we would move forward in faith that honors God.

    Today marks 50 days in the hospital for me, and I will finally be discharged tomorrow. I’m recovering from the c-section well, but it is very hard to think of leaving our tiny son here when he has been so close to me this whole time. I don’t like it. But, I’m relieved at the thought of going home. 50 days is a long time.

    Thank you for praying – please continue to pray for our family. We definitely need you to…

  21. Mr X was sending several texts to Hubby earlier this evening. Even though the protection order is not for us, he is not supposed to contact us in any kind of harassing fashion. The texts did take on a harassing tone, claiming that we were doing something illegal (we’re not). A police officer is here now, talking to Nightingale.

    In the midst of the texts, Mr X cited John 3:36. On his Facebook page, he has recently posted a couple things that sound kind of Christian, including a direct scripture verse. But we know enough about him to be highly skeptical about all that. (But praying, of course, that he does come to true faith.)

    One of the things he complained about was that Nightingale will not drop Little Guy off with him, but of course the protective order disallows that. His problem now, according to Nightingale, is that he is once again on the outs with his mom, who was the one picking up Little Guy & bringing him back.

    Please pray for safety for Nightingale & Little Guy, that Mr X doesn’t repeat what got him into trouble in the first place (or try something worse). And that Mr X will finally come to his senses spiritually. (Actually, add Nightingale & Chickadee into that one as well. 🙂 ) Thank you.

    (Btw, this could potentially get Mr X thrown in jail.)

  22. The officer said that because Mr X referenced Little Guy a few times in those texts, they could be taken as merely contacting us as a third party (which he is technically allowed to do). He said they were kind of in between that & harassing, but not harassing enough to be worth pursuing. His advice is to save those texts, & keep an eye on any others that may come.

    The is the second officer she has spoken to who is acquainted with Mr X, & not in a friendly way.
