Psalm 126

1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
    we were like those who dreamed.
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
    our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
    “The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us,
    and we are filled with joy.

4 Restore our fortunes, Lord,
    like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow with tears
    will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
    carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
    carrying sheaves with them.

  1. I started reading Psalm 34. I saw at the top that it was written by David when he was acting silly before Abimelech. I thought, “not much good here”. But that is the Psalm that has many precious promises. I have claimed some.
    to wit.: 34:7 “The angle of the LORD encamps around those that fear him. And delivers them.”
    In I Corinthians 6:3 Paul satys: “Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! “

    I hope someday to shake hands with mine.

  2. I asked for prayers a couple weeks ago for Jim, an elder at our church who has been a paraplegic for nearly 50 years after a freak accident while serving in the Peace Corps.

    Jim has nearly died many times but has lived a full and rich life since being confined to his wheelchair. He married a lovely woman, helped raise her two kids and cherishes the four grandchildren (whom he helped homeschool). He earned a PhD, has taught Bible study and led prayer groups for many years. We all love him and Carol.

    But he’s tired. His body is worn out. He’s on renal failure in the ICU in San Francisco. He’s had an open bedsore for more than two years despite everything possible and doctors have now determined they cannot rebuild his bladder.

    Against the desires of the children and the grandchildren, he has decided–and Carol supports him–to have his breathing tube removed this morning.

    His thinking is clear: if he breathes on his own, he does. If he is unable to breath, then he will go home to his Lord. This morning.

    Pastor is heading down to be with Jim and Carol. I’m crying.

    Please pray as the Lord leads. We’re going to miss him.

  3. Please continue to pray for my aunt, but just to lighten your outlook today see below for a message from my cousin. The disabled dad is my uncle (her stepfather)

    So. You know what I love more than B’ham traffic? I love finally getting to the room and taking off my bra and sitting in peace…only for the god forsaken fire alarm to go off and you cannot use the elevator so you have to take your disabled dad down 6 flights of stairs…only to find out it’s because someone burned popcorn. That’s my favorite.
    Apparently the fire alarms are very sensitive. So it’s going to be sandwiches in this room for everyone.

  5. Well I remember having to run out of temporary housing because somebody took a shower and did not use the fan.

    Prayer for husband and son today as they clear the last of the passes across Idaho to Spokane and then head home.

  10. I just found out a couple of minutes ago that my cousin was killed in a home explosion this morning. I didn’t know Herb that well as he was a generation ahead of me (and my cousins range from infants-74 yrs old). He was a believer. I know his sisters much better, and they are in holding up fairly well, but still shocked. Herb was their last remaining brother. Prayers are appreciated.

  14. Deb, a year or so ago we had relatives of relatives (a whole family) killed inside of their home (different element than propane, but the horror of it is the same kind of thing. It’s hard, and I’m sorry.

  15. I must have misunderstood what I was told about Jim. Here’s the latest prayer request:

    Jim has been in a “seriously ill and weak” health condition over the past several weeks. He had had a major build of toxicity in the blood and organs which has been corrected and alleviated. Then he picked up a bad case of the flu which compromised his breathing ability and capacity.

    Having been on a respirator for a couple of days to get his lungs healthy again, he is undergoing surgery this afternoon to have the respirator system inserted through the trachea. The plan is to recover further, build up strength, heal, and move into the completion of much needed surgery.

    Pray for courage, stamina, healing, successful surgery, overcoming of flu and and “bug” that would compromise lung function. Pray for the doctors to accomplish their skillful treatments and surgeries effectively. Pray for God’s grace to sustain Jim and Carol and family, and for all thing to move to a state of “improving health.”
