Psalm 119:1-8
¹How blessed are those whose way is blameless, Who walk in the law of the Lord. 2 How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, Who seek Him with all their heart. 3 They also do no unrighteousness; They walk in His ways. 4 You have ordained Your precepts, That we should keep them diligently. 5 Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes! 6 Then I shall not be ashamed When I look upon all Your commandments. 7 I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments. 8 I shall keep Your statutes; Do not forsake me utterly!
Two prayer requests:
1) My paternal grandmother, who is my only remaining grandparent, had a fall on the weekend. She is now in hospital with some slow bleeding into her brain. She is still, as she has always been, alert and aware. She is almost 97. She lives in Nova Scotia, and I have not seen her since 2014. She has been a churchgoer all her life, to the very liberal United Church, and tends to have a universalist view of religion. Pray for healing, but pray especially that she will fully understand who Jesus Christ is.
2) My family has been friends for many years with a couple who live not far away – the wife used to be our mail carrier. In the last few years, the wife has been diagnosed with rapid onset multiple sclerosis (MS) and the husband with an incurable, but slow moving cancer. They are not Christians, although they take my parents sharing the Gospel with them in good part. Two days ago, the husband was hospitalized, as he had developed fluid around his heart which was nearly fatal. The wife, who is severely debilitated, could not possibly stay by herself, so my parents brought her home, where she is staying with them. They have grown children, but my mother said they didn’t even call yesterday to see how the man was doing. Pray for strength for my parents, as my mother’s mobility is not good, and for wisdom as they seek to help the couple.
Here, we are trying to save one of the charges of fifteen year old boy. The kid is three days old and not eating well. It is in the house on husband’s lap getting bottle fed every little while.
I have shared with you about my friend’s whose husband has suffered at Traumatic Brain Injury. I was speaking with her this morning and he fell the other night. She said she was so angry with him for not trying to take better care of himself. They have multiple things going on their life right now and could use the prayers. They both grew up Southern Baptist and don’t have a lot to do with the church.
Last Wednesday, Hubby had a CT scan, & is due for a bone scan next Wednesday. Having not heard anything about the results of the CT scan, he called the doctor’s office this morning. Rather than telling him, they scheduled an appointment, also for next Wednesday, to discuss the results.
Am I needlessly concerned, or wouldn’t they have told him if it was clear? Doesn’t having to have an appointment with the doc to discuss the results usually mean they found something?
Please pray for healing for him, & peace for me. (He says he is not worried, but I don’t know if he’s just saying that for my sake.)
I don’t think so, Kizzie, but it is possible they would tell you over the phone. Or the results may have been okay but not as good as they wanted. But I think they don’t like to give out much info over the phone, insurance reasons.
Praise God! Doc called Hubby back & said the CT scan showed no evidence of the cancer metastasizing.
Before I learned that, though, I was crying to God in prayer, asking Him to give Hubby more years to be here for Little Guy (& us, too, but him especially), to see him grow up. But I ended by surrendering my will in this to Him with “Your will be done, Lord.”
So next week we will see what the bone scan shows.
As to the kid, he is up and walking around (in the house, in case you wondered) and is eating a little and letting it go from the other end, so the systems are working. He should live at least until his boy gets home from school. Whew. I had warned the boy that the kid might die and that he should feel it if it does. That is called compassion and it is something we have been trying to find in the lad, show him what it looks like so he can build on it rather than bury it.
