Prayer Requests 1-24-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 117

Praise the Lord, all you nations;
    extol him, all you peoples.
For great is his love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord.

  1. I need help with my attitude today. Yesterday was especially bad and I just don’t want to be doing what I am doing. I am hurt and angry. This has nothing to do with anyone I am related to by blood or marriage.

  2. Praying with you Kim ❤
I haven't mentioned on here about our niece, but I really would cherish your prayers for her this day. Last week she delivered her first baby girl…Arabella. Arabella had Trisomy 13….we have been praying for this precious one since learning of her condition last Oct….thankfully she made it to full term…the delivery went beautifully and she was able to come home to be cherished by her parents and grandparents….yesterday was Arabella's funeral…she lived 8 days and our hearts are broken. She was buried in the little dress we sent to her….I look forward to seeing her one day…in the meantime, her mama is walking a path she never envisioned….they are believers and are holding close to Him….

  3. Praying for both Nancy and Kim concerns as both are important. Isn’t it amazing that God, the Lord of Lords, loves us and cares about our concerns?

  4. Nancyjill, I’m so sorry, I’m not a parent but I honestly can’t imagine the kind of pain and heartache that would come from losing a child. 😦 I think it would crush me (and it absolutely would, of course, apart from God’s grace). Praying for you all.

  5. Oh, NancyJill, that is every parent’s nightmare. Sometimes my only prayer for BG is Dear Lord keep her safe and don’t take her from me. I have lived with that fear since the moment I knew I was pregnant. I joked that I knew parents worried about their children I just didn’t know how soon you started worrying.

My Mama Ruth lost her son when he was 12 years old. He died in the doctor’s office from an anuerism in his stomach. He would be somewhere close to 60 today. She died still grieving him. She said it was a pain that never went away, you just learned to live with it. The only time she ever spoke harshly to me was when a couple who was in our group of friends lost their baby. I didn’t know them all that well and made the comment I couldn’t and wouldn’t attend that funeral. She told me I most certainly would if she had to get in her car, come to my house, beat my butt, and dress me. She would make sure I went because that Mama needed everyone around her and to support her. I did as I was told and can still “see” it. He was a precious little boy all dressed up and his mama stood by his casket “showing him off” because none of us had ever seen him. It was horrible and beautiful.

  6. Praying for you, Kim and Nancyjill.
Please pray for K again today. She is seeing the doctor at 3pm about the results of her CT scan and hopefully some answers about her lungs and the mass in her abdomen. She is very worried but looking to Jesus.

  7. Bunch of prayer request. Tomorrow I have an appointment to find out why my tumor markers are up and then we have our first appointment with the Kid’s counselor.
Also, yesterday I came home and found that the neighbor and friend of the kid’s(16years old) had shown up at the house saying his mother had kicked him out. Hubby told him he could stay for dinner but we couldn’t let him spend the night without his parents permission. Hubby tried to draw him out a little but we couldn’t get much out of him. (The Kid was still at baseball practice). Finally the boy’s father shows up and tried to get him to come home. He refused. The father threatened to call the police. The boy said “go ahead”. While the police tried to talk the boy into going home, Hubby talked to the dad. Seems he was the boy’s uncle who had adopted him after the boy had spent his first nine years in a crack house. Police ended up taking the boy away. This family needs prayer

  8. Some people don’t have a chance in the world.
    Love the ones you have.

A rave on the prayer thread. That last statement reminded me of this.

I went to a Lions meeting last night. I left her home watching TV for about an hour and a half. Then I came home.
Not right away, but after a while, she said, in passing, “I’m so glad you’re home”.
You can’t buy the feeling that brings.
You ladies should try that some time.

  9. My husband hears that a lot, Chas.

Kbells, so glad your husband had the sense to tell him he would check with the parents. Some of these children can be, how do we say it….dishonest…..

  10. K will need surgery as soon as possible to determine what exactly the mass is. Doctor is more concerned about that than the spots on her lungs right now. Please pray that the staff/friends at camp (including me) will be an encouragement to her and that God will give her peace.

  11. Kare, please excuse if this is a dumb question, but is K the same person as the friend who just had a baby recently (over the weekend, I think), or someone different? I think you said the new mom had had cancer in the recent past? I’m sorry for my confusion — I’ve been gone and out of touch with what’s been mentioned on here lately.

    Prayers for all above.

  12. KBells, in Chicago we had a girl spend the night with just that justification one time. It was 11:00 and I was tired and literally on my way to bed when my roommate (who had just answered the door at that late hour) came to tell me of a dilemma. A girl she knew had arrived with a friend because the friend’s parents had kicked her out. Could she sleep in our house? My roommate called the mother of the girl we knew and got permission for her own daughter to spend the night as well, so the girl wouldn’t be staying with strangers. It was late, we were tired, and we’d never faced such a situation before, but it never occurred to us the girl might be lying (she did, after all, even have a witness) and the mother we called didn’t suggest we call the other mother. I didn’t really work with the teens who came by, just with the children, and I needed to be at work the next day, so I went ahead and went to bed.

The next day I got home to a frightened housemate, who told me the girl’s mother had tracked down our phone number and called her, and was threatening to take us to court for “harboring a runaway.” We called one of our pastors, who had more experience in such a situation, and he told us she was unlikely to follow through, but to continue to be humble and apologetic. We told the woman we would never again let the girl into our home without calling her mother ourselves (normally we’d take the kids’ word for it when we asked “Does your mother know you are here?”). We’d never met her before that late night, but over the next few months she came by several times, and we called her mother each time, and her mother eventually saw us as a friend and ally.
