Merry Christmas! 🙂

Luke 2:1-21

¹In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

  7. Merry Christmas to all.

    I will be glad when we can finally get broadband and be able to stream movies like Michelle others.

    We have had a lone turkey visiting everyday lately. She is very wary, but I have managed a couple of pictures through the window. I have to dodge the feathers and other bird crud that is on the window. Birds keep flying into several of the windows and it is too cold to wash them now until spring. 😦 We have seen flocks come through our yard before, but this one is alone. I am not sure why. It seems strange to me.

  9. Merry Christmas to all! It’s a quiet day for us on our first day of vacation. The weather is beautiful, but no one has ventured outside because of the cold viruses. Maybe folks will perk up by tomorrow.

    We did watch Polar express last night which was a treat. What a lot of imagination went into that story and the film production.

    Church was good, always a treat when Christmas falls on a Sunday, I think. 🙂 On the way home I stopped and took some photos of the snowy mountains towering in the distance over the port cranes.

    The views were clearer this morning.

  11. Merry Christmas!! Beautiful Christmas star Kim! We awakened to about 3 inches of fresh snow upon the forest floor…what a beautiful sight to behold this Christmas morn….the roads were icy and horrid as we drove to church…but halfway there the roads were clear…it was as though there was a clear cut dividing line of where the snow fell. As we were in church the snow fell…lots of smiles of delight as we sang Angels We Have Heard on High as a congregation!! Time for a nap and maybe an episode of Monk….my daughter gave me the entire series on DVD for Christmas…. 🙂

My father-in-law (for whom it is probably the last Christmas) wanted us all to be with him for church on Christmas day, so we joined him and Mom, and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, all of whom usually attend together, and her son and his family (wife and two-year-old daughter), who have been living with them temporarily for the last couple of months why they try to repossess a house they sold. We had a dozen of us–which would have taken three rows in our tiny church, but took only a single row in their brand-new church building. Having missed our church twice in a row (weather and health and then an ice cancellation), we would have preferred to be there, but it was good to be able to give the gift of our presence.

    My husband and I exchanged our gifts last night (the girls were supposed to be joining us, but our son-in-law was sick) and we both got a lot of books. I was behind in my reading already!

    The snow has finally melted off two small patches of grass. With a predicted high tomorrow of 58 (!), it should leave us tomorrow, none too soon.

    Our son and fiancee made it here in time to see our daughter before she had to leave to get home in time for her shift on the ambulance.

    We went to our friends’ last night (the ones who just lost their father) for Christmas Eve. A wonderful time was had – so nice to have such wonderful friends.

  17. I know everyone wants to know if I got Health Insurance for Christmas. Well, the only clue I have is that they processed my charge card payment a few days back. Other than that, I have nothing that tells me if I am insured as of January 1st. My faith in God continually gets tested in so many ways,.

  21. It was a nice Christmas. We went over to Chuck’s house for dinner. We then opened gifts.
    Elvera got pictures, I got a shirt. (whatever else can the get for me.} and a gift card to Zaxbys. We had a nice dinner and for dissert, we had a birthday cake for Brian who turned 41 today.
    There were 17 of us. Two still in diapers. One still sleeps in the fetal position.
    It’s all Elvera’s fault!

  22. It was a good Christmas at H-House. We visited, opened presents , and had dinner. The kitchen is semi cleaned and I will finish it tomorrow.
    Everyone was stuffed and happy.
    Last night we wached It’s a Wonderful Life. Tonight we are watching Elf. Soon I will be watching the inside of my eyelids. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

    What I said was that I like Sinead O’Connor’s rendition of Silent Night.
    Pretty pictures too. Though the engineer in me shudders when he sees a picture of a house so close to a stream. But it’s only a painting.

  24. We just enjoyed our Christmas meal of steak with sweet onions, brocolli, and buttered Basmati rice. The sparkling apple cider had a nice bouquet (is that the proper way to express it?) Key Lime pie served as our Christmas green treat to end the modest feast. We, too, are stuffed.

    I told son that the citrus in the pie should be helpful for his cold. He thinks that means he needs to have the rest of the pie for himself. Husband discussed getting another, but I told him they are locally grown where we came from and can’t be found where we are. I then thought I heard a moan. Tomorrow we may have a family pie war.

  26. This is the earliest we’ve ever finished off Christmas Day– home by four and watching The Two Towers (extended edition) while my husband plays with his new Fit Bit. He received a number of fitness related items for Christmas to match his new physique!

    As this is nearly done, I assume we’ll move on to Return of the King to finish the evening, though I will probably read while the movie runs.

    A truly lovely day, though I’ve now eaten the reminder of my needed calories for 2016!

    A blessed Christmas; our church service was lovely this morning.

  27. Chas, no bike??

    I’m noticing now that the style for both men and women seems to be going toward that unisex “hybrid” design — in between a girls’ and boys’ bike (as we knew them).

    The dogs’ Christmas present was a trip to the dog park.

    All of them got a grooming mitt from a friend at work, seems like Annie likes it, I have yet to try it out on the dogs.

    Pot roast in the oven, tomorrow it’s back to some house work before my Tuesday return to *real* work (for pay).

Donna, I liked the video, especially the look at I believe British creatures . . . and it was amusing at the end to see the starling on its nest, as Americans would never end a video with the despised non-native pest bird, but in England they’re residents and they belong, and they apparently don’t have a pest problem with them . . .
