Prayer Requests 12-16-16

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 81

Sing for joy to God our strength;
    shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
Begin the music, strike the timbrel,
    play the melodious harp and lyre.

Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon,
    and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
this is a decree for Israel,
    an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
When God went out against Egypt,
    he established it as a statute for Joseph.

I heard an unknown voice say:

“I removed the burden from their shoulders;
    their hands were set free from the basket.
In your distress you called and I rescued you,
    I answered you out of a thundercloud;
    I tested you at the waters of Meribah.
Hear me, my people, and I will warn you—
    if you would only listen to me, Israel!
You shall have no foreign god among you;
    you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God,
    who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

11 “But my people would not listen to me;
    Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
    to follow their own devices.

13 “If my people would only listen to me,
    if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue their enemies
    and turn my hand against their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him,
    and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
    with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

  1. Lindsey and I had words last night…she stated she needed a ride to school this morning…I explained I couldn’t take her due to an early doctor appointment–and inquired as to why she couldn’t take her car. She said she’d given her parking tag to a friend for the week, but friend didn’t have a first period final–so she couldn’t drive her…..I said she’d have to either get a ride or take the bus…this made her angry—and she threatened to skip her last finals…so I told her if she failed to attend she would lose her car for a month….things escalated from there…nothing was ever resolved….

    She made a 100 on her Pre-Cal final and a 98 on her Physics final….and she’d worked the night prior until eight–so did a minimal amount of studying….school is very easy for her. Please pray for our relationship and that she makes the responsible choice today.

  2. We have a winter storm warning forecast for half of today and most of tomorrow. My husband will be leaving for work around the start of it, and coming home in the thick of it tonight. Prayers appreciated for him and everyone in the warning zone. Thanks.

  3. Ann – Praying for you & Lindsey.

    This part stuck out to me, though: “She said she’d given her parking tag to a friend for the week, but friend didn’t have a first period final–so she couldn’t drive her. . .”

    If the other student has her parking tag, then it should be up to her (the other student) to get Lindsey to class, whether she has a class herself or not. It’s not your problem that Lindsey gave away her parking tag for the week.

  4. I hadn’t heard about the problems in South Sudan until Mumsee’s post sent me looking for info. Very sad. Until just a few years ago the non-Muslim southern part of Sudan was oppressed by the dominant Muslim north. I’d hoped such conflict would be a thing of the past when South Sudan became an independent country. Now we have war between the two main tribes of South Sudan similar to what we had years ago in Rwanda. Much to pray about.
