Prayer Requests 11-28-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 58

Do you rulers indeed speak justly?
    Do you judge people with equity?
No, in your heart you devise injustice,
    and your hands mete out violence on the earth.

Even from birth the wicked go astray;
    from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies.
Their venom is like the venom of a snake,
    like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears,
that will not heed the tune of the charmer,
    however skillful the enchanter may be.

Break the teeth in their mouths, O God;
    Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions!
Let them vanish like water that flows away;
    when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.
May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along,
    like a stillborn child that never sees the sun.

Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns—
    whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away.
10 The righteous will be glad when they are avenged,
    when they dip their feet in the blood of the wicked.
11 Then people will say,
    “Surely the righteous still are rewarded;
    surely there is a God who judges the earth.”

  1. Thanks for your prayers. The principal is gone and the vice principal is sick, so the high school principal came over for the morning and I was able to talk to him about my student. He took notes and had heard of the condition before.
    I love these kids, but have to remember that God gave them to their parents, not to me. I can pray and advise, but I am not the decision maker.

  2. My friend L came home from the hospital yesterday. She was able to eat, sleep a while in her own bed, but the projectile vomiting started again, which means the kidney is not functioning. She sent a message to a group of us around 4 this morning that she was letting her husband sleep a little before they headed back to the hospital. Of course we are all worried about her, but I am also worried about her husband. He had a group of us over yesterday to help get rid of all the leftovers from Thanksgiving. He got one of the guys to help him move some furniture that L wanted moved around. One of the other women suggested it be dusted so I dug through the laundry room cabinets and found a dust rag and some furniture spray and then because he is after all a man, I suggested he change the sheets on their bed so she would have fresh, clean, sheets to climb into.
    I just don’t have a good feeling about this…..

  3. I erred in arranging the return flight home for my daughter and she had to catch a 6am airporter to San Francisco. She’ll land about 11:45 at LAX and has to be at work at 2–to then work a 10-12 hour shift.

    Feeling like a poor mother and a bad citizen–what if she has a tough call during that period when she’ll be so tired, not to mention driving herself home in the middle of the night?

    So, a mom prayer for my girl. Thanks.

  4. Some months ago, I asked you to pray for a family in my home church who had a infant granddaughter who had just been born with a severe congenital defect and could not live long. She lived longer than expected, but she passed away last week, very quickly. Her grandparents will be making the long flight to New Zealand for her funeral and to comfort their daughter. These grandparents have other heartbreaks in their lives – their eldest child, who was the light of their eyes, left his wife and children for another woman last year. They kept hoping for a reconciliation, though I quietly thought that was impossible, but just last week, again, their son’s ex-wife remarried. They deeply love their grandchildren from that failed marriage and are afraid that they will be cut off from them. This family was, like ours, part of ATI at one point, and are one of the families I am thinking of when I talk about how that program wrecked lives.

  5. Just thinking about things, I would like to ask for prayer in general for my home church. When I was in West Africa, the elderly pastor who led the tiny congregation for many year retired. By the time I returned home, the church had selected another pastor, about whom, as I’ve mentioned, I had reservations. However, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and although the church did not grow, it seemed to be stable. This past August, the pastor resigned suddenly, due to family issues. I know some of them, which would be heavy enough to bear, but I don’t know all. However, the last we have heard of this pastor is that he is living separate from his wife and family. As you can imagine, this has left the little church reeling. I don’t know how much longer it can be kept open. I thought it should quietly close when the elderly pastor retired, but it has served some good purposes in the three years since then. Just pray for wisdom for the little congregation. They have a lot of unnecessary hang-ups, like being King James only, which make it hard for them to think of going to other churches. However, I often think it would be healthier for their spiritual growth if they allowed themselves to get out of their narrow groove.

  6. Kbells, my cousin just had surgery for that a couple of weeks ago, and he seems to be doing very well. They can get good outcomes from the surgery. Prayers for you and yours.

  9. Amen. Prayers for all in the early morning quiet here.

    Didn’t sleep enough last night, and have an unsettled feeling and some heaviness of heart over a situation I haven’t mentioned much here. (Maybe I haven’t at all, I don’t remember, actually.) Everything seems worse in the dark, though.

    Prayers appreciated, if you see this.
