Prayer Requests 11-10-16

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 41

¹Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

13 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

    DISCOVERY

I AFFECT THOSE AROUND ME IN THE MOST POSITIVE WAYS

My attention today is not on “fixing” others, but on creating a state of well-being within myself. As I discover new ways of improving the quality of my life, I can be sure that I will reflect that well being to others.
In my effort to help others, perhaps I have misplaced myself. If life is full of contradictions, resentments, and insecurities, I might be unconsciously sabotaging the growth of those who come to me seeking help.
I must remember that as a helper, I can only be a catalyst for change. In the end, each individual must decide whether or not to embark on a different journey.
If I am critical of myself, perhaps I am quick to condemn and judge others. I must remember to disarm my own missiles of destruction that are aimed at me and at those close to me. As I develop a great consciousness of security, support, and self-appreciation, I affect those around me in the most positive ways.

I have told you before that I used to be the most judgemental person I knew. Now, I think a am much less judgemental. Life has a way of polishing off the rough patches here and there. A good friend of mine once told me I was the most self actualized person he knew. I’m not perfect but if that trite old saying “I’m a lump of coal, but I’m going to be a diamond someday” is true then maybe by the time I leave this world I will be a lot closer.

  2. My friend Leslie had to have a blood transfusion before they would let her leave the hospital. She maybe got to go home about 8 or so last night. I haven’t heard from them. Luckily what we prepared for them easily refrigerated and I will take it today.

  3. Prayers for your MIL, Ann, and all the family. Prayers also for Leslie, Kim.

Please pray for safety on the road for Hubby and 1st & 3rd Arrows as today starts the moving for 1st Arrow to his new place. About six hours round trip, with the Suburban loaded to the gills with the big, heavy stuff for the first three hours of the journey.

    Thanks.

  4. My EMT’s godparents took her in at midnight, delighted to do so. She had a safe comfortable bed and a shower opportunity.

She’s currently sitting on the BWI tarmac, vowing to never fly Southwest again if she can avoid it (another delay), but acknowledging they did buy her first ever Dunkin’ Donut.

I think this chain of events was wonderful. Shhhhhh.

  5. Speaking of temper trantrums as I was on the News thread, I just got a message from Leslie’s mom that screaming worked. They are discharging her and her husband is on his way to get her and bring her home.

  6. Michelle, if Southwest is a choice in the cities I’m flying, I pretty much only fly them. At least a few years ago, they had not only the best on-time record but the best safety record, they are nearly always the cheapest (you have to go directly to their website, since their prices don’t even pop up on sites that compare prices), they don’t charge for baggage, their tickets are 100% refundable, their flight crew has a good sense of humor, and a real person answers if you call them on the phone . . . It used to be that if you got to the airport early enough and sat near the plane, you could choose pretty much any seat on the plane, and that has now changed with people being able to pay $10 or so and pay for early boarding. But as far as I know, the other SWA advantages still hold up, so they are easily my #1 choice. They just don’t always fly where I’m trying to go. (The last time I flew anywhere was the trip five-plus years ago on which I got engaged, and I’m pretty sure SWA doesn’t fly from our smallish local airport. But they fly to Phoenix, Chicago, and Nashville, so I’ve always had them local until this move.)

A few years ago, when I was still in Nashville, I had a wonderful ticket for two weeks away–I was flying to Chicago, and in the middle of that flight I was going to Minnesota for a few days. I had, in other words, booked a round-trip ticket from Chicago within my round-trip ticket to Chicago. By taking advantage of sale prices on both flights, I was going to see friends in Chicago and a former roommate and her family (including my goddaughter) in Minnesota, all for less than $200. I ended up getting seriously ill and having to cancel the trip, but 100% of my ticket price sat there waiting to be used within a year. When my brother got married in California a couple months later, I was able to pay for most of my ticket (the one CA ticket cost more than the two tickets combined). I’m pretty sure most other airlines don’t have that generous a cancellation policy, but I was extremely pleased they had it.

  7. We learned yesterday that that bone in Forrest’s elbow is not necrotic after all. There is just a little deviation in the growth of it, but it is fine.

  8. Prayer for fifteen year old daughter who has been raging for two days. Which means we get to listen to her yell and scream and tell me she hates me and I am an evil woman and she wants me dead and so on. Husband called the doc to get the meds started but he is off today so he will get it tomorrow. We really don’t want to do that as she does very well except when she doesn’t. And prayer for us so we can tolerate her and love her through it.

  9. It isn’t good to go off and on with those types of meds. It can lead to suicidal tendencies. Either keep her on them or keep her off.
Also talk to someone who understands it more than I do.

  10. She was on some rather serious ones when she was seven and eight but they were illegal in Idaho and her psychiatrist weaned her off of them. We really don’t want to go back but it is not reasonable to put up with her raging for a week, very hard on the little ones. And we have found no way to redirect her.

  11. Prayers for wisdom. I got my statement today from my property managers. The good news is that I will get some money from the rent. The bad news is that as I look over the statement, the painters have never been paid. I gave them the money to pay that bill at least six weeks ago. There is no mention of it and no bill included with the statement. I think it may be time to get new property managers. I emailed them three times telling them I had given them the funds. I will talk to my friend first.
