  1. Do not miss the Krauthammer article that DJ posted at 12:06 a.m. last night on yesterday’s thread. He spent most of the article detailing the horrible risks and dangers of a Hillary presidency. Then in the last five paragraphs, in a devastating and unfiltered fashion, he spewed forth the reasons that Trump is more risky and more dangerous.

As brilliant as he is, Krauthammer could be wrong. However, it is worth noting that his view is the overwhelming view of top US business executives and is the near unanimous view of those who have recently served the US in top national security positions as well as the leaders of our major allies around the world. They could all be wrong and Little Jerry Falwell could be right, but I wouldn’t count on it.

  2. HRW. Hilleary is not “mildly corrupt”., she is utterly corrupt. She has been corrupt from the beginning. Corruption follows the Clintons everywhere, starting when Bill was attorney general in Arkansas. The Clintons are for sale.
As well as everything they own. Meaning us.

Krauthammer is correct. We likely have seen the end of American dominance on the national scene. I seriously doubt that Trump will “Make America Great Again”. But i also doubt that he’ll put a “For Sale” sign on the front door.

America’s decline started when Obama took the oath. That is by design.

  3. Chas, You are correct that the Clintons can be bought with money. As we have seen, if you pay them enough, they will come to your third wedding. Trump can be bought with words, with flattery. If you flatter Trump, you are in his view doing “a great job” and are “fabulous” even if you were formerly “a loser” or “ineffective” just a few weeks earlier when you questioned or criticized him. Like I have always said, Trump is much funnier.

  5. From Yahoo: This guy should be put away forever.

A South Carolina woman has been found alive after being held captive inside a metal storage container at a property in Woodruff, South Carolina, local authorities confirmed on Thursday.

Kala Brown, 30, of Anderson County was found over two months after she went missing on Aug. 31. Police found Brown “chained inside the container like a dog,” Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright told NBC-WYFF. The owner of the property, Todd Kohlhepp, a registered sex offender, was taken into custody and will be charged with kidnapping.

Mills and Abedin vs. Ailes and Giuliani, Podesta vs. Roger Stone, the folks who ran Trump University vs. the folks who run The Clinton Foundation, Bill vs. Trump’s three wives, Robby Mook vs. Trump’s three campaign managers. We need to throw ghost writers, Trump’s TV producers and Donna Brazille in there somewhere.

  7. I saw this opinion piece in our local paper this morning and it gave me a little lift. Thought you guys might like [need] it too. :–)

Unless you have been able to completely block out the world around you the past few months, you have been bombarded with the fact that we have an election coming up. And unless you have found some media outlets that I don’t know anything about, 94.7 percent of the news we hear about the different candidates and the different parties is negative.

Most of you know me well enough to know that I allow myself to be consumed by this stuff. And if we are being honest, I have to be to a point because the government we elect makes a lot of decisions that directly impact our company and our employees.

But today, instead of sending another email as we approach this election that reminds us of all the things that scare us with what’s going on in our world today, I’ve decided to send you an email that I need to write for my own well-being. I need to tell you the things that I love about our country…instead of just always talking about the things that frustrate me. This is a common practice in marriage counseling. It’s easy over time to look at your spouse and just think about the little things that annoy us. If we come to that point in our marriage then we need to take a step back and reflect on all the things that we love about our spouse.

So, this morning I’m taking a step back to reflect on 10 things I love about America.

  8. There’s that “mildly corrupt” notion again … Can’t seem to get my head around that concept. 🙂

Well, here we go, headed into the final weekend. Will Tuesday night be a long one? Or not? Hard to tell.

Most would consider her a criminal, but to Dems who love to wallow in their corruption, she’s a rock star.

“Longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin headlined a fundraiser for the Clinton campaign Thursday night in D.C., the first time she’s appeared on Clinton’s behalf since last week’s news that the FBI was taking steps to review new emails relating to Clinton’s private email server.

Usually a frequent fixture by Clinton’s side on the campaign trail, Thursday’s fundraiser was the first time she had been on the campaign trail for her boss since last week. Clinton campaign aides confirmed she was working from the campaign’s Brooklyn headquarters this week.

Also attending the fundraiser, for which tickets ranged from $500 to $10,000, were designer Diane Von Furstenberg and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.”

  10. Good piece/video (3 min or transcript) on the media & Trump: by Howard Kurtz

It is beyond dispute that Trump has drawn far more coverage, and far more negative coverage than Hillary Clinton, and that some media critics have applauded this imbalance.

And the public gets it. Check out this USA Today poll: “By nearly 10-1, all those surveyed say the news media, including major newspapers and TV stations, would like to see Clinton rather than Trump elected. That includes 82 percent of Trump supporters and 74 percent of Clinton supporters.” …

On the opinion side, this will give you the flavor of the media opposition. A New York Times editorial says that from the moment he got in the race, “it became clear that Mr. Trump’s views were matters of dangerous impulse and cynical pandering rather than thoughtful politics. Yet he has attracted throngs of Americans who ascribe higher purpose to him than he has demonstrated in a freewheeling campaign marked by bursts of false and outrageous allegations, personal insults, xenophobic nationalism, unapologetic sexism and positions that shift according to his audience and his whims.” …

But what does it say that most of the media establishment is so relentlessly negative against a guy who is going to win at least 20 states and possibly more?

To me, it goes back to the way the MSM originally dismissed Trump as a sideshow and a joke, a guy who deserved to be in the Huffington Post’s Entertainment section. But it goes far deeper than that.

The reason the media missed the rise of Trump is that they were out of touch with the anger and frustration of so many voters, especially working-class Americans. And even now, there is too little empathy for these voters and too little understanding of what motivates them, especially in certain precincts of New York, Washington and L.A.

Instead, there is plenty of condescension toward these voters, a feeling that they’re racist or xenophobic or just so ill-informed that they don’t realize that Trump is selling them snake oil. …

… What a message: America, you must be dumb or crazy to support this guy.

Beginning next Wednesday, there will be plenty of hand-wringing about the ugly campaign, the Clinton investigations, the future of the Republican Party and so on. But perhaps the media need to engage in some soul-searching about why a good chunk of the country doesn’t view Trump and his appeal with the utter disdain that they do.

  11. So they have also vilified the “uneducated” or un-indocrinated lower to middle class white people. Who wants to admit to supporting Trump and identifying yourself with knuckle dragging, inbred, redneck, white trash?

  12. DJ, I know you’re voting for Trump. But do you honestly believe he is a good choice–even a palatable one? On a scale of 0-10 with ten the best, would you give him higher than a one or a two? I’m curious because it seems to me that the very best a Christian could possibly muster for Trump at this point (IF they are aware of who and what he is) is disdain and contempt and horror . . . but a reluctant acknowledgment that he is the lesser of two evils.

Would you agree at least that Trump is a thoroughly wicked man, thoroughly unqualified (morally or in any other way) to be president? I get the “better choice” argument–but would you acknowledge that we do have two really horrible options?

… As Senator Marco Rubio said as he bowed out of the race, having been bombed in his home state of Florida by Trump by nearly a million votes, “There was a tsunami approaching and only Mr. Trump saw it.”

The political class that had admitted 12 million illegal immigrants, while waffling about “comprehensive immigration reform” and doing nothing, complacently assumed that the country had acquiesced in this cynical outrage. After all, someone had to do the menial work in the U.S. It was a pandemic of almost terminal hypocrisy and when Donald Trump focused national attention on it, he had to be defamed as a racist. Donald Trump has a big mouth and a loose tongue, but he has, unlike many of his accusers, a perfect record as an equal-opportunity employer, and there is not a scintilla of evidence that he is a racist. …

… What he objects to are free-trade agreements that amount to the importation of unemployment into the United States. There is nothing intellectually wrong with this; the desire of all Americans for cheaper goods and natural resources and agricultural products should be balanced against the interests of the U.S. work force. This is not a euphemism for protectionism that allows uncompetitive American enterprises to milk a tariff-insulated market. This was the greatest and most continuous political issue in the United States from the Civil War to the end of World War II, and Trump does not deserve to be branded as a Luddite guardian of feather-bedding and monopolistic practices.

Just as outrageous was the portrayal of Trump as a misogynist. His personal conversation is less coarse than Mrs. Clinton’s, and the tape of his exchange eleven years ago with Billy Bush (of the ubiquitous Bushes), while repulsive, was not how he speaks. …

… The sadness of Peggy Noonan that the country has been let down by inferior candidates is understandable, but fails to credit Trump for unerringly following a trail no one saw …

… In the last week of this tumultuous campaign, Donald Trump, however raucous his delivery, has emerged as the candidate of comparative integrity, and the only person who might clean out the Augean stable of the American political system. Unless Hillary Clinton, whose considerable gifts have never included an excess of spontaneous originality, can pull from the tattered Democratic hat a miraculous Brobdingnagian bunny, the doors of the White House will be opened to the greatest, if far from the most elegant, personal political crusade in American history.

I was thoroughly convinced he was a misogynist long before that clip. I don’t know whether or not he’s a racist, but this one I’m sure of.

Clinton’s charity confirms Qatar’s $1 million gift while she was at State Dept

    _________________________________

The Clinton Foundation has confirmed it accepted a $1 million gift from Qatar while Hillary Clinton was U.S. secretary of state without informing the State Department, even though she had promised to let the agency review new donations from foreign governments.

Qatari officials pledged the money in 2011 to mark the 65th birthday of Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton’s husband, and sought to meet the former U.S. president in person the following year to present him the check, according to an email from a foundation official to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign chairman, John Podesta. The email, among thousands hacked from Podesta’s account, was published last month by WikiLeaks.

Clinton signed an ethics agreement governing her family’s globe-straddling foundation in order to become secretary of state in 2009. The agreement was designed to increase transparency to avoid appearances that U.S. foreign policy could be swayed by wealthy donors. (reut.rs/2fkHPCh) …

  17. Cheryl, As a reality show star and con man, Trump knows the American people much better than we do. I understand that he has told aides that the American people have an attention span of about two or three weeks. Therefore, all he has to do is refrain from any outrageously misogynist statement or act for 15-20 days. He is probably right. By Election Day, the undecided voters will have forgotten about the confession of sexual assaults.
