I tend to disagree. I believe Confressional Republicans will have a better chance of surviving if Trump can stay within 5-6 points of Hillary. I am also concerned that if the Republican leadership breaks from Trump, more Trumpkins will fail to vote for Congressional Republicans.
Meanwhile, Ann Coulter apparently doesn’t mind that Roger Ailes was harassing and molesting half of the women in New York. However, she is blaming him for Trump’s new views on immigration.

It’s a disaster when you wish disaster on people. I didn’t even wish that for Bill, nor Kerry, etc.
Before this all started, my motto was “No Clintons, No Bushes”. Jeb was the last on my list until Trump showed up. Then, Trump was two notches below Bush.
But I can’t help wanting to be rid of them.
I know what will happen if we get Hillary.
I’ll vote for Trump and see what happens.

I have speculated somewhat on the scenario. I don’t have the gift of prophesy. But in reading Zechariah 12, I see a battle that has never been fought. Nor can it happen as long as the Sixth fleet is in the Mediterranean. I see the world heading to this decisive battle. (It isn’t Armageddon.) Zech. 12:9 says that God will destroy the nations that come against Jerusalem. I worry that we may be on the wrong side. We could be if Obama/Hillary is in charge.
I’m not surprised by the mental health statistics but I do wonder at their methodology — is it mental health issues over a period of time or did they pick one specific day or several days results averaged to get a snapshot of mental health as a daily issue. College does have its own issues in regards to anxiety, substance use, depression, etc. On the other hand, I do get annoyed with the overuse of mental health terms. Being sad does not mean you are depressed and being scared is not the same as anxiety. I know teens who suffer from depression and anxiety and its not to trivialized.
I see Gowdy is still trying to maintain his profile. The results one generates from an email search are bound to be different than from a forensic search. The frustration I have with my work email and its search engine tells me enough. The use of Bleachbit or anything similar is nothing more nefarious than using a home office paper shredder. Some people shed all their financial statements prior to placing them in recycling. Any public person is bound to be that careful with any personal information. Benghazi is a giant waste of taxpayer’s money. Imagine investigating every incident at a US consulate or embassy. If the Democrats were as thorough as Gowdy they would still be investigating Reagan and the Beirut bombing.
When I was still in academia, an avenue of investigation I thought was promising was to look at the idea of the apocalypse over time. Not exactly good post-grad work where you are told to focus on a small tight topic. For me though its fascinating — it occurs whenever the digits on the calendar are important to someone, or when events overwhelm people, or during periods of decline, etc. The literature around 999 makes Y2K look like child’s play. And the English 17th century is amazing. It even cuts across religious and cultural lines — Islam, Environmentalism, Marxism, science fiction, dystopia, etc. Its more western than eastern; eastern thought tends to be more cyclical than teleological but its still there.
Tychicus, Chas and HRW, I am much less dogmatic about eschatology than I am about Trump. However, I tend to agree with Chas. I have trouble finding a description of a pre-Tribulation rapture in Scripture. I also distrust modern doctrines such as The Rapture that are only a couple of hundred years old.
My cynical self says: Who benefits when there is a diagnosis of some mental problem?
1. Drug companies;
2. Docs and other health care professionals; and
3. The students themselves, who often get extra time to take tests or other favorable treatment due to their “illness” or “disability”.
Potheads, socialists, Greens, Mcmullin and Gary Johnson all managed to be on the Minnesota ballot on time yet Trump and the Republican party missed the first deadline. Luckily they had a few days to fix it.
Teen mental health issues are a serious concern — I’ve seen kids who couldn’t sleep for days, cut themselves, etc. Most teen drug use can be traced to a mental health issue — i.e. kids self medicate. Yes, for profit health care does take advantage of kids and their parents but that doesn’t mean the issue isn’t real.
HRW, I would defer to you with your experience as an educator. My wife felt some of her students in middle school were over-medicated by overzealous parents and docs.
Don’t get me wrong. Vast numbers of primary school aged boys are over medicated. And when we medicate prepubescent children the long term effects are not easily predictable. There are some primary children who need meds based on mental health issues but the rest need to look at diet and activity. However by the time they enter my classroom, puberty has started and the mental health issues are different especially with girls.
