Last night I was driving to pick up supper and my XM radio was on CNN’s convention coverage. The first speaker was a Mexican woman. She did OK for a while and then she just started cursing and speaking Spanish. The next guy gets up and starts: I’m ________ and I’m an alcoholic.
At that point, I immediately switched to NBA Radio.
Trump is so bad that one assumes the Democrats can’t actually be worse. They probably are.
Did anyone else feel the pain when they listened to an obviously too old to sing it, Paul Simon, murder Bridge Over Troubled Water? One of my personality traits is that I often feel embarrassed for other people. Even people I don’t know. Last night I was embarrassed for him. Yes, it was that bad.
Ricky, I am sympathetic to illegals like the one who was speaking last night, but she has been here since she was 4 years old. She is a college graduate. Sometime in the last 10 years or so she could have gone through the naturalization process. I think illegal aliens being here is a slap in the face to those who have applied and jumped through the hoops to become naturalized citizens. It has been my experience that those who go through the process are better educated out our government and love our country more than those of us who were born here.
Interesting that the Dems chose to lead with a parade of law breakers. Fits, that for sure. No border fences or walls to keep out illegals, no voter ID for voting, but their hypocrisy on full display, they fence off Bernie supporters and require photo ID to enter. The fence is holding, for now.
Last night they covered illegals, gays, and Trump, but none mentioned the elephant in the room that their candidate brought with her. If you pretend it doesn’t exist, things are much easier.

Trump is right about one thing. Law and order needs to be restored, and those who flaunt it dealt with. This is why I refuse to watch when they parade out their law breaking illegal supporters. They’re making a mockery of our laws and openly breaking them, and it’s not just the illegals, it’s their enablers as well.

What did they do to accomplish that? They knowingly hosted two adult illegal aliens as featured speakers at the convention.
One is a woman named Francisca (no last name given), who appeared at the speaker’s podium with her young daughter Karla. Francisca is currently ignoring a deportation order from the U.S. Government. The other is a young woman named Astrid Silva, who came to the U.S. illegally at the age of 4. Now in her mid-20s, Silva has been working on a bachelor’s degree at Nevada State College.
Dyer is covering two of the speakers, but Astrid Silva is apparently here legally at the moment. She was previously an illegal, but now supposedly has a DACA work permit so it’s not as much of a big deal. Ortiz, on the other hand, is openly defying the law and is subject to arrest, prosecution and deportation. And yet somehow she had a prominent speaking slot on the national stage at the Democrats’ big party.”

The RealClearPolitics average has Clinton with a 38 percent favorable rating overall compared to Trump’s 36 percent. Gallup has them both at 37 percent, with Clinton falling from 40 percent earlier this month (possibly because of criticism by the FBI over her handling of her State Department emails) and Trump rising from 31 percent. This equal popularity (or unpopularity) is reflected in the horserace polls, which now show a near-tie. …

I’m excited to see how well 3rd parties do in this year’s presidential election. I can’t imagine a more fitting year than this to go that route — or at least seriously consider it.

Well 6 at this point they’re polling at 13% for Johnson, 9% for Stein. Even combined, there’s no winning option there. Spoiler maybe, but for which candidate, who knows? I think they both lose about the same either way, But while I can see Sanders supporters voting Trump as a thumb in the eye to the rigged system and Hillary, I can’t see those on the right actually voting for Hillary. They know what she is, and they have standards Sanders fans don’t bother with. Either way, it’s gonna be interesting to watch. 🙂

I’ve discussed with local friends and family on a few occasions in past election years that our family has voted for CP candidates, and aside from a few polite smiles and nods, there wasn’t much other reaction. 😉
This year, though, I’m seeing a lot more interest in looking at alternatives to Ds and Rs among some formerly very staunch Republicans I know, including my parents and brother. And one of my sisters-in-law and her husband and son are big Bernie supporters, so it will be interesting to see what they will do. They can’t stand Hillary.
Fascinating year, and for some reason, I keep thinking, is Jesus coming back before we even get to the election? It is often on my mind that we might never arrive at November 8, 2016!

It appears Trump has hit the fear button and pushed it into overdrive. The simple fact is violent crime is at a post wwii low. Thete is no bogeyman. Fox appears to play along asking why the DNC hasnt mentioned these issues on the first day…..perhaps they wish to start with a message of hope instead of fear.
The Sanders supporters will mostly fall in line. And in fact Sanders did the democrats a favor by creating some enthusanism where there was none. If the Bernie folks continue into the midterms the Republicans will be in trouble as they normally rely on the lack of motivation traditional democrats have for voting.
I’m not a conspiracy bluff but I don’t think its a coincidence that the wikileaks are coming from eastern Europe. Putin would much rather deal with Trump (or if he gets bored Pence). George Will suggests Trump is in hock to the oligarchs hence the lack of tax returns and the Russian support of Trump. A bit of a stretch but Trump is notorious for not paying his bills.
Speaking of which, the cute girls who sang his praises a few months back are suing him for lack of payment. They were supposed to receive 2000 but were told the exposure and a merch table should be good enough. There was no merch table provided. At a layer event, they weren’t even paid for travel expenses. Stiffing little kids.
But the question is what 3rd party (or parties) would be able to be broad enough to actually form a strong coalition of interests that could win elections? They mostly seem to me like niche groups that represent little more than special-interest slices of the electorate on either side.
I do think both parties are in for possibly reformation or rebooting after this election, regardless of who winds. Whether that will result in something better or not remains to be seen.
I think the question about Sanders votes has more to do with turnout. Many of them aren’t regular voters, apparently, so … ? Mostly no-shows in November?
Saw an intetesting little quip; Trump stood on stage with 5 kids from 3 wives and the family values party cheered. Now if Clinton did that…..
A rather frank obsevation of a central point of the republican campaign ….if the evangelical right supports Trump, the Republicans will never take their votes and ideas seriously.
For many Bernie supporters this is their first presidential campaign. The question is can and will they reboot the Democratic party or will they fade away.
HRW, You are right about the “Religious Right”. I always considered myself a part of that group. However, once many of our “leaders” supported the reprobate Trump, no one can ever take us seriously again. Like Chas said, “The ten righteous men in Sodom are voting for Trump.”
That may be just as well. Christians need to focus on their families and their churches. We never were much good at politics.

I’m not a conspiracy bluff but I don’t think its a coincidence that the wikileaks are coming from eastern Europe. Putin would much rather deal with Trump (or if he gets bored Pence). George Will suggests Trump is in hock to the oligarchs hence the lack of tax returns and the Russian support of Trump. A bit of a stretch but Trump is notorious for not paying his bills.
Speaking of which, the cute girls who sang his praises a few months back are suing him for lack of payment. They were supposed to receive 2000 but were told the exposure and a merch table should be good enough. There was no merch table provided. At a layer event, they weren’t even paid for travel expenses. Stiffing little kids.

But the question is what 3rd party (or parties) would be able to be broad enough to actually form a strong coalition of interests that could win elections? They mostly seem to me like niche groups that represent little more than special-interest slices of the electorate on either side.
I do think both parties are in for possibly reformation or rebooting after this election, regardless of who winds. Whether that will result in something better or not remains to be seen.

I think the question about Sanders votes has more to do with turnout. Many of them aren’t regular voters, apparently, so … ? Mostly no-shows in November?

Saw an intetesting little quip; Trump stood on stage with 5 kids from 3 wives and the family values party cheered. Now if Clinton did that…..
A rather frank obsevation of a central point of the republican campaign ….if the evangelical right supports Trump, the Republicans will never take their votes and ideas seriously.

For many Bernie supporters this is their first presidential campaign. The question is can and will they reboot the Democratic party or will they fade away.

HRW, You are right about the “Religious Right”. I always considered myself a part of that group. However, once many of our “leaders” supported the reprobate Trump, no one can ever take us seriously again. Like Chas said, “The ten righteous men in Sodom are voting for Trump.”
That may be just as well. Christians need to focus on their families and their churches. We never were much good at politics.
