Prayer Requests 7-6-16

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia, and for Ajisuun as well.

Anyone else?

Psalm 76

¹In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

There break he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

The stout hearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

11 Vow, and pay unto the Lord your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

  1. Yesterday, Lindsey came to me and asked to spend the night at a friends. She said her dear friend’s mom had just called her and asked her to spend the night away from home because she and the stepfather had had a big fight the night before…. Lindsey’s friend called her older sister to get the rest of the story…Turns out, stepfather had pulled a gun on friend’s mom when she asked for a divorce. The mom ran out of the house to a neighbor’s and called 911…. I don’t know anymore details–but please pray for A, Lindseey’s sweet friend and for the whole convoluted situation. These girls are sixteen–so it’s a lot to deal with.

  2. Btw: I’m finally beginning to feel more normal after this latest med change. Still having some GI issues– but my mood is much improved. I have an appointment with new psychiatrist this afternoon (I’ve seen him once). I was neutral after first meeting–but he’s on our insurance so I really want to like him. So many psychiatrists don’t take insurance anymore and they’re not cheap!
Thanks for holding me up in prayer for the last month or so…it means a lot to me.

  3. My mom and dad have both been at the ER in the last week — Mom with a gush of blood coming out of her ear, from a ruptured eardrum, they learned later, Dad with chest pains from what appears to be an infection in the chest area. He struggled with nausea at some point after he was prescribed something for the infection.

Between the two of them, especially with my dad, who is nearly 11 years older than my mom, they’ve been at urgent care/the ER a lot in recent weeks/months, and over the past year. Hard to see the decline.

  4. Yes it is. Our parents are our first line of defense against mortality. They have always been in our lives and it is hard to imagine a life without them. When we start to see them start to fail and become weaker we realize we aren’t “bullet proof and invisible” either.
I am sorry this is happening to you. Enjoy them while you can and be thankful they gave you brothers and sisters no matter what those relationships are like. It is hard to be the lone adult when they are gone.

  5. Praises! Just got this email from my brother (he lives next door to my parents):

I was just down visiting with Mom and Dad. Dad had a good night and is feeling much better. He went out and got the paper this morning and is going to town to get a haircut this afternoon. Looks 100% better than last night. Evidently the meds are doing their job.

Thank you for your prayers, all. And Kim, I appreciate your kind words of concern, much more than I could ever convey.

  6. Amen on Kim.

Im working my job in July and yesterday spent 6 hours trying to decipher and put together an Excel sheet. At the end of the day–90 minutes past quitting time–I still had a math error somewhere.

I wasn’t going to have to go in today, but off I go. Prayers I solve the problem, please . . . I was in a fair amount of despair last night. Sigh. 😦

  7. I’m happy to report I saw the problem pretty early in the morning and my boss and I both thank you for your prayers.

Then a bigger problem beat me up for several hours in the same math department. We finally figured that one out and I don’t have to go in tomorrow. So thanks for prayers.

  8. Please pray for Little Guy tonight. He will be spending the night with R at the home of one of R’s friends. He thought he was just going to go swimming with him & then come home. I won’t go into all the details, but plans got messed up, & he is stuck at this other place. I’m sure he’ll be fine (there’s another kid there that he is playing with), but this Mimi’s heart is a bit worried for him. More for his emotional well-being than for his physical safety. Thanks.

  9. Now L, who gets up a little after midnight, has been awakened by overhearing the phone, & learning about the drama R was stirring up. He’s worried about Little Guy, & is afraid he won’t get back to sleep.

Good news, though, is that R is bringing Little Guy back, although he is very angry that 1st Dtr didn’t go pick him up. (Without going into details, I’ll just say that she was justified in not doing so. It was/is his responsibility.)

Now I am up later than I should be (it’s been a crazy, stressful evening, with R’s drama), & I need to be up earlier than usual in the morning. (As I was this morning, yesterday morning, & will be for the next four mornings. Unfortunately, my body doesn’t like to go to sleep early, & doesn’t seem to care what time I have to get up.)

Goodnight & sweet dreams to you all.

  10. If anyone is still up (I guess you west coasters probably are). . .L only got about three hours of sleep, & has a lot of driving to do tomorrow (which starts soon for him). I am still up.

1st Dtr is talking to the state police. R accosted her tonight, bursting through the door as she was letting Little Guy in. She tried to push him out, but he pushed her back, yelled some stuff at her, & threatened to shoot her in the head. Little Guy was punching his dad, trying to protect his mom.

This had all happened upstairs, because R took the outside steps which go to her kitchen, rather than using the front door, so we didn’t know he had arrived. I heard some commotion, then heard 1st Dtr. scream. How horrible.

The only one sleeping is 2nd Dtr (staying over since we are babysitting so much this week). That’s kind of funny, because usually she is the one up late in the night.

This doesn’t feel real. But it is.
