“Israeli intelligence officials have confirmed that a major explosion has rocked an Iranian nuclear facility, according to a report Monday in The Times of London.

The British daily cited officials in Tel Aviv who said the blast occurred last week, as originally reported on the website wnd.com.

Here’s a piece that takes issue with the NYT and their March For Life coverage.

“We’ve received quite a few complaints about the religion angle the New York Times chose for its story on the March For Life. And I’d sure as heck like to join in.

But before I do that, I want to point out that the Times also ran a straight news story covering the march and, unlike any year I can recall, it actually ran in the print edition and not just as a brief mention on a blog post. The story that has outraged so many folks is the primary story on the march that ran in a more prominent position than the straight story. In fact, it ran above the fold of the national news section, headlined “In Fight Over Life, a New Call by Catholics.””

“And color me shocked (shocked!) that they might try to sabotage the March for Life by releasing a letter from 60 (not 50, but 60) folks saying that if those hundreds of thousands of marchers enduring brutal conditions were really pro-life, they’d happen to support the issue that President Barack Obama is pushing at the moment. Whatever else might be said on the topic, and I imagine that there are as many views on gun control among the marchers as there are in the general population — some of which would probably be quite worth including in the story and would be challenging to the dominant narratives we hear from progressive activists and their NRA counterparts — what a great way to distract from Roe v. Wade.”

Meanwhile, another paper must have missed the rally as well and wonders “Where have all the children gone?”. As usual, they never quite figure it out.

The Chicago Tribune puts its finger on a trend with significant implications:

Demographers have long known that the baby boom of the 1950s was giving way to a baby bust nationwide. Now Illinois and the Chicago area are providing a vivid example of the trend: According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, from 2000 to 2010, Illinois had a 6.2 percent drop in children under 10, among the biggest declines in the country.

The impact is being felt in declining school enrollments and refashioned youth programs, officials say. In coming years, it will be felt in a workforce with fewer workers to replace retirees and help replenish pension coffers.”

Here’s more on the proposed “bi-partisan” immigration amnesty reform thing.

“Americans overwhelmingly oppose illegal immigration. They have pleaded with Congress to end the mass illegality for decades to little avail. All the while, millions have been added to the total of those illegally here.

It’s time to fix that broken system. Now we are told that the Obama Administration and members of Congress say they have a plan that they promise will do the job. So, the American people will need to watch closely. And, members of Congress must insist that they have a full and complete opportunity to study and amend such legislation.”

The Seattle Police Dept’s gun buy-back has some competition it seems.

“Within hours of launching the first gun-buyback program in more than two decades, Seattle police took in so many guns they had to shut down the site Saturday and turn away scores of people after running out of gift cards to hand out.

People on foot and in vehicles were corralled into a parking lot underneath Interstate 5 between Cherry and James streets, where they traded unwanted weapons for gift cards of $100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and $200 for assault weapons.”

“Not all of the guns brought to the buyback were handed over to police, however.

Officers stood by as makeshift gun shows sprang up on the sidewalks, just steps away from the buyback tents, as gun enthusiasts and collectors waved wads of cash for the guns being held by those standing in line.”

  4. Apparently, the Obama regime is mobilizing to take the country by force and squash any resistance with military force. The residents of Houston recently got a show of force from the new compliant generals in the Army. It is my understanding that Texas has told the Federal Government they will not assist the Feds in detaining American citizens without due process.

  6. With the tread towards smaller families I have noticed that middle children are becoming somewhat rare. The last middle child born in my family is a grandfather now. Middle children are suppose to be peace makers. I wonder if this is why we have so little peace.

    I’d also like to note that in my particular, expensive, community we are not having a baby dearth. I must know a dozen couples who had children in 2012–that’s one a month! And several had bonus twins! On December 9, some four infants were born.

    And the middle child in among my grandchildren is the real firecracker. It will be interesting to see how SHE turns out. Peacemaker . . . her parents will laugh when I tell them! 🙂

    As to the Boy Scouts–I notice it wasn’t mentioned–a big fight. I bet a large part of the problem is financial. Large corporations that never thought twice about supporting the boy scouts have been blackmailed to pull their support. It’s a terrible world.

  11. I was the middle child but I was the oldest boy. My sister left me alone and my little brother was a mommy boy that could do nothing wrong.

  12. Cindi came home from work one day and Andrew (the youngest) had this huge goose egg in the middle of his forehead. Cindi asked him what happened. Andy said he ran into a door. The door was named Sarah (the middle child).

    A few years later, Cindi had decides to not work during the summer and all was quiet on the eastern front. All three of the kids are watching Lawrence Welk with Cindi. Cindi queries them. “Is it my imagination or are you kids starting to grow up and be more respectful to one another. Andy quickly responds. Oh yes mom, we are becoming more mature. To which Helen (the oldest) replies. No he isn’t it just really hurts now when he (Andy) hits back.

  13. All the birth order books say the middle child is suppose to be a peace maker but clearly from the comments here it only goes to prove what I have always suspected. The writers of these books are (as usual) not paying enough attention to us poor neglected middle children to get it right. Kevin Leman says that middle children will count the number of pages devoted to the middle child section and write him letters complaining that they don’t get as many pages as the other birth orders. . 🙂

  16. Joe B at 10:07 suggests that Obama may use the military to enforce some laws. There is a law against that. It doesn’t mean that Obama won’t do it. Just that he’s not supposed to. A dictator can do anything. The following on Posse Comitatus comes from Wicopedia.

    The term derives from the Latin posse comitatūs, “to have the right to an armed retinue”, in English use from the late 16th century, shortened to possefrom the mid 17th century.[3] While the original meaning refers to a group of citizens assembled by the authorities to deal with an emergency (such as suppressing a riot or pursuing felons), the term posse is also used for any force or band, especially with hostile intent, often also figuratively or humorously.[4] In 19th-century usage, posse comitatus also acquires the generalized or figurative meaning.[5
    The power presumably continues to exist in those U.S. states that have not repealed it by statute. Resort to the posse comitatus figures often in the plots of Western movies, where the body of men recruited is frequently referred to as a posse. Based on this usage, the word posse has come to be used colloquially to refer to various teams, cliques, or gangs, often in pursuit of a crime suspect (on horseback in thewesterns), sometimes without legal authority.     In the United States, a federal statute known as the Posse Comitatus Act forbids the use of the United States Army, and through it, its offspring, the United States Air Force as a posse comitatus or for law enforcement purposes. A directive from the Secretary of Defense prohibits the use of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps for law enforcement. No such limitation exists on the United States Coast Guard, which can be used for all law enforcement purposes (for example, Coast Guardsmen were used as temporary Air Marshals for many months after the 9/11 attacks) except when, as during WWII, a part of the Coast Guard is placed under the command of the Navy. This part would then fall under the regulations governing the Navy in this matter, rather than those concerning the Coast Guard. The limitation also does not apply to the National Guard when activated by a state’s governor and operating in accordance with Title 32 of the U.S. Code (for example, National Guardsmen were used extensively by state governors during Hurricane Katrina response actions). Conversely, the limitation would apply to the National Guard when activated by the President and operating in accordance with Title 10 of the U.S. Code.[10]

  17. kbells1 this is a case of money over values, the scouts are under pressure from many sponors, who are under attack from the GLBT Community and their backers.

    the churches on the left that have left God’s Word will be praise the Scouts over this trying to give them cover from the Christian Church that will ask them not to do this

  18. The idea of a possible near-future armed rebellion against encroaching tyranny can seem exciting at first thought. On second thought, we realize that it means possibly killing our neighbors, & it definitely means killing fellow Americans.

    One of my liberal friends shared a thing on Facebook which pointed out that conservatives who seem so willing to resort to armed rebellion if deemed necessary are admitting they are willing to kill some of those soldiers we always say we support. 😦

    Let us pray that the need for taking up arms again never comes.

    Even more so, let us pray for another Great Awakening for our nation. (That goes for Canada, too.)

  19. Chas, while the posse Comitatus act prohibits the use of the Military as a Law Enforcement agency, this administration is a awash with people who show no respect for law or the Constitution. The article indicated that there were other agency’s involved in the operation in Houston in addition to the Army. The exercise involved use of blank ammunition causing residents to feel they were in a War Zone rather than in the Houston city limits. I find it interesting that Navy and the Marine Corps is being cut to the bone all the while recruitment in the Army remains the same.

    Just because I may be paranoid, does not mean “they” are not out to get us.

  20. What is happening to the Boy Scouts is warning to the Christian and the Christian Church, the GLBT Community is going to target the money based and jobs. If you stand up for the Christian Values a speak out against the GLT Community you put at risk your job and money based. We need to understand this tactic that has been used on the Boy Scouts is going to be used against Churches and the Christian Business and the Christian themselves. Our very freedom is at stake here.

    In the comments section of the article one Houston resident pointed out the nearby army training facility …. Sometimes paranoia is just paranoia. I find it striking that some of the folks talking armed rebellion are the same folks who preached to the liberals about respecting democratic outcomes in various state referendums. I guess if the outcome isn’t as you like, then its ok to pick up a a gun and change that in your view?
